Greetings True Believers!

Here are some scans from Marvel Universe Vs. Wolverine #1.

Yes, yes I know. Wolverine is overexposed and there have been a glut of zombies/28 Days Laterish comics in the last few years. But what can I say? I've been a fan of zombies and apocalypse fiction since I was but a lad.

Enjoy!

It begins....

I do like that line, "Hell has so much more to teach us." reminds me of Clive Barker.

Flashback time. Logan and Peter are watching a hockey game on the tube when Spidey and the Rhino crash through the stadium. Standard issue fight, right? It is until Spidey begins eating the Rhino.

The FF take Spidey down and Logan goes to investigate. Reed doesn't know what caused Spidey's transformation but says that his metabolism has completely change and he has new enzymes to digest raw meat.

Things go back to normal until people start disappearing and while on a mission, Psylocke gets eaten by...something. Logan is pissed and goes hunting, Reed thinks it's another superhuman.

Appearances by the cannibal predators begin to increase.

Logan makes a good point.

The news is that the Blob crashed into a restaurant and ate 25 people.

Shit starts to get real.

Logan has to fight other predators, including child ones. He heads back to the Baxter Building to find out they have lost contact with Utopia. He heads to the Blackbird (killing Doc Ock on the way) and finds Betsy's killer, Angel. Logan does him in and flies back to SF.

It's on Utopia, Logan realizes what he has to do.

I've decided to enjoy this. It's more plausible then Marvel Universe Vs. the Punisher.

Wait, when Logan killed them, was it because they were infected or because he wanted to spare them FROM being infected?

Dunno about the others but it seems Kitty was infected and Logan had to kill Colossus who got pissed at Logan.

Ugh, another shitty comic where everyone agrees to attack wolverine's knuckle-knives with their throats.

I just wanna know, does everyone keep that powers? Cause if so, its total Bull spit logic as to how he was able to beat them all. I mean, in Old Man Logan they gave the excuse that they were conscious and hesitated because he was their friend which was somewhat reasonable, but what excuse do they have here?

More like the bloodthirsty fanboys passing themselves off as the Marvel Bullpen these days overrode common sense. "Let's have Wolverine just kill like EVERYBODY! That's what my wankfests -- er, our fans are clamoring for! W00T!"

Serious point, though. Storm only has to fly above Logan and hit him with lightning bolts until she outlasts his quick-healing and flash-fries him. To point out a single obvious example.

You're assuming he took her out while outdoors.

Well, in that last page scan she's there at his feet and the Blackbird's in the background -- if they're not outdoors and she didn't have room to fly, it's a huge room with a low ceiling.

Seriously. Just to add one more example, Emma Frost. Emma upon her first encounter with the X-men, mind whammyed Wolverine into unconciousness in a matter of seconds. Presumably even cave-Emma is capable of this.

How much common sense does it take for Loa to walk into him? Her power is destructive phasing. He tries to attack her or vice versa, he becomes a steaming piles of diffuse matter.

I just hate stories like this. So much.

But he gets so many stories that the bad ones alone outnumber the stories any other X-man gets. Whenever he gets a new origin mini or a new Wolverine is old now mini (of whichthere are now, what, three?), it just reminds me of the stories that aren't going to be told in order to make room for the new Wolverine book. Like Colleen Coover's "Marvel Girl in College" mini that will never see the light of day.

I despised that excuse in Old Man Logan. Killing a few X Men? I would've bought that. The whole freakin platoon? Never.

It WAS a pretty bad excuse but I handwave it in my headcanon by saying Mysterio also illusioned the views of many of the other X-Men not all, just enough to throw the entire team off in confusion. Which works given Polaris of all people was killed too and she could well handwave Logan away if she were in full understanding of the event.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Peter's armored skin supposed to be so resilient that Wolverine's claws only strike sparks off it? I mean yes, the things are next-to unbreakable but they're not actually lightsabers. It should take more strength than Logan possesses to drive them through a foot thickness of super-hard organic steel.

Can't see why. Piotr becomes steel (osmium steel perhaps?), but Logan's claws are still adamantium

Wait wait wait Wolverine is killing people close to him, but this time THEY are the ones who have lost controll of their minds...waht a twist.

Anyway this story looks interesting, but I thought kurt was his best friend.

Yuck. I really appreciate how his inner monologue doesn't address him murdering Kitty at all. He just kinda does it as he's angsting about hell and whatnot. There's no emotional undertones at all for killing a woman he's known and cared about since she was a child. Yet he's practically driven to tears by his preoccupation with his doomed bro(ro)mance with Peter.

Yeah, that does not ring true, does it? Unless it's a coping mechanism that's explored later I guess. But still, it'd be nice to see a hint of that if such is the case.

I have always hated his inner monologue. In the very first Wolverine miniseries (the one drawn by Frank Miller), Chris Claremont turned Wolverine from a taciturn brawler to a wouldn't-fuckin'-shut-up philosopher Samurai. Since then, the guy's had a running commentary track to rival The Goddamn Batman's. And I, for one, would vastly prefer to hear Mike, Bill, and Kevin.

You know the thing that stands out to me? Wolverine and Colossus were never best friends. Comrades in arms, yes, good friends even, but Wolverine has always bonded more with Kurt and Kitty.

This isn't going to go well with Logan for those who read Punisher vs. Marvel Universe. Poor Logan.

I can't help thinking that a zombie apocalypse would screw a telepath up big time. What would it be like to have to hear so many zombie minds?
