Casstoons: the Berkshire Lady

In a brief change to the norm, here is a brief strip based on a weird bit of local history/folklore from my hometown of Reading, home of Ricky Gervais, Kate Winslet,the dude that wrote Paddington Bear (apparently), the Baby Farmer, forgotten chalkmines that people's houses fall into, and semi-killer rats.

It even inspired a Ballad, which adds a section where after forcing the guy to marry her, she took him home, took off her disguise and pretended that she didn't know who he was just to mess witrh him...

Yeah... No one really comes off looking very well in the ballad version.

Well, it's not exactly Shakespearan in scope or plot development, is it. "I don't want to marry anyone... Boy he's a pretty. I want to marry him. I married him."

Pretty much. The fact that she decided to follow him around for a while before challenging him to a swordfight if he doesn't marry her, I thought was kind of amusing.

i like that she has both "frustrated" and "crazy hair" (those wayward strands of hair that just manage to get away)
