Fall into Forever
Aug. 11th, 2011 02:11 amFour pages from THE RED WING 2, by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Pitarra. Boy, am I glad my local store actually ordered the book like they were supposed to instead of forgetting.

To recap, in the future, humanity is fighting a war across time itself against a mysterious foe. The series is about the fighter pilots in this war, flying vessels capable of jumping across the centuries.
Robert Dorne, Red Wing pilot, is trapped in the distant past after his ship crashes. Luckily, he manages to get friendly with the natives.

In the distant future, Robert's been presumed dead for years. His son Dom is now an adult and has just graduated from pilot training, earned his wings. The same goes for Dom's friend Val, also the son of a pilot seemingly killed in action. Humanity's still at war with the mysterious enemy.

Date: 2011-08-11 04:00 pm (UTC)The cover is totally based off of the Sarcophagus lid of Pakal the great. You can see it here. [/a> This image was used by the writer of Chariot of the Gods to claim time travelers visited the ancient Maya, and the lid was a representation of a time machine.
I love the reference to the old wacky 60's concept.
Definitely going to look for this one. Thanks for sharing it!
