Wait...so this Guardian character is wanted by the government, and yet they cover up that she just killed two people in front of their infant daughter?
I think Heather is currently going by Vindicator, her husband Mac is Guardian at the moment. Mac and the rest of Alpha Flight have gone on the run.
Heather is working for the Government, presumably so that she could get their daughter back (the courts denied them early on in the series because they're superheroes with a tendency to die). But she may actually not be in control of her actions. The Canadian government has been brainwashing superhumans into working for them, they already got Aurora.
Yeah? Anecdotal evidence says that it's selling well enough in Canada that those sales have been the reason behind the series getting an ongoing. Locally, it's selling like crap...as of issue #3, all three local stores I've talked to are down to 0 subscribers and only two of the three are even ordering 1 issue for the shelf come issue #4.
I can't get over the obvious physics problems. I know suspension of disbelief, but even if Northstar can fly that doesn't mean that he can just screw around with someone else's inertia: the altitude at which a person would have that much difficulty breathing would be at least 3km. Now I never got a Physics degree but if you drop someone from 3km and catch them by their shirt they should tear right through that (and the sudden stop would actually liquefy their organs against their ribcage followed swiftly by projectile offal).
Now I wonder, if that shirt can withstand over a metric ton of pressure, does that guy need a tailor or Reed Richards?
It's been accepted quasi-official handwaving in the MU for quite some time that most of the speedsters have some kind of method of doing wacky things with inertia and momentum. Northstar in particular can get up to ridiculous speeds, then stop on a dime and give you change.
That thing with Heather...yeah, that's so far away from the Heather that I knew in the Byrne days that I don't even really give a shit--it's obviously not the same character.
Mulan sums it up well, and brainwashed or not, she just killed two people in front of her kid, and one was her direct relation. There's no back peddling from this mess.
At least the child looks suitably traumatized! No lady, the courts didn't take away your child because you're a terrorist. That took her away because you're F*CKING BATSHIT.
...more importantly, am I allowed to say the "eff" word on a post labeled NSFW?
WHY. Why did she kill the mom too? I mean, the cousin is kinda mean....but...what did the mom do? Why did she have to die? Right in front of the daughter? Whatever became of JP's boyfriend too?
Kyle had a wall dropped on him, then was kidnapped out of surgery by those nice people Heather is working for. This will be the second time he's needed rescuing since the series started.
Boy, Heather sure has been working out since the last time I saw her. I guess she's also growing her breasts out too, because seriously. What happened to Heather?
Also, wasn't she killed? She and her husband? Among others?
... our heroes, ladies and gentlemen? If you thought it was wrong of American officials to smoke the house of Elián González's relative and taking him away from gunpoint on Easter morning, it's okay if it happens if you actually KILL the relatives anyday in Candada as long as you are the birth parent of that kid. If not, Canada will still bend the rules for said killer... and yet they still have a LONG waiting peroid for people on their free healthcare plan...
I don't know who this new Guardian is... but I have NO respect or sympathy for her. She just killed 2 non-power relatives because they fear she was insane... and she kills them off with that expression, that King Lear "Bitch, please." look... with a great shot of her rack too!
God, before Superboy Prime snapped... more so, when he punched Panthra's head off her shoulder, he was in complete shock over what he did. She... she just insane as the Cornfield Kid from Twilight Zone... and the Canadian Government is okay with it?
And that Liberal line reminded me how during Siege, when a small group of heroes were sneaking Volstagg after the UFOes incident, David Blake was force to talk a crazy old who says that she not willing to follow the polices of Obama in-spite of the fact she was for the bombing Asgard because of Norman, it was kinda like that cheap excuse that douchey self-absorb hipsters made up for Bush, only now it a crazy republican (so a normal republican as most stories go) with Obama... I am sick political biases in comics. I not demanding for a pro-reb story with evil liberals, I am just annoyed by the fact they have being a Republican as a factor for jerks (General Ross, General Lane, Norman Osborn, and Lex Luthor) when they're just insane or self-absorbed jerks. Remember how thick they played it in the AstroBoy movie? One the reasons I like Light as a villain from Death Note is that despite friendly persona to others and his claims his actions are for justice, he a snoby teen who knows how to work around rules to get away with his action and calls himself God because he can kill people by writing their names.... no political strings attached there.

Now *Guardian*....

Hard to argue that the court was right to deny them custody for the child's safety.
