The most hardcore version of gay chicken that exists on earth ever.

That was in December, 2010.

And this was last Monday:

"Consensus on the debut of this game was that Spartan Gay Chicken ends in a 30 year committed relationship complete with bickering over when to open a joint bank account and where to place the ottoman."

Ikeaaaaa!!!!!! The shouty faces seem pretty much the same, too.

Manly Men Doing Manly Things. If you haven't read it, I weep for you.

In a pinch, gay chicken can also serve as a method of determining the real and the fake.

The fact that I immediately recognized that as Decade should probably be disturbing.

Not really, now see if you instantly recognized say ZX or one of the more obscure Riders that might be more disconcerting.

That title is becoming more of a subversion with each comic.

You're right, I went and looked up what subversion means.

It's more of an increasingly misleading title.

. . . not really . . .

More like the fact that it includes such characters automatically makes their activities extremely, over-the-top manly.

Soon as I read your title I knew...

It was a hard sell to my friends on just the title, but once they started reading, it got into the webcomics cycle.

"This weapon is off balance to the point of uselessness. It may as well be scrap metal on a stick. Can I assume you wield it with the intent that it compensates for your inadequate genitals?"

What I love is the comic is not only anti-mysogyny, but anti-transphobia.

It's pro-manly, but pro-*good* manly.

Nah, that was her pissed at people recommending clearly-not-manly men. If she can handle trannies like she did, I doubt she's going to go all femmephobic.

And I understand that and she doesn't have to draw any characters she doesn't want to. And I know that she was just responding to common complaints and comments. But the way she depicted those first two anime characters seemed a bit problematic to me. Everything from their body language to their dialogue seemed to be exaggeratedly "girly" in order to prove that they aren't manly enough to be in her comic.

"Trannies" is often considered a slur/derogatory term and definitely not the best way to be referring to trans folk.

This is one of those rare times that the comments make it better

heh, the real Spartans were manly, manly gays too. As in "I'm fighting right next to my lover so I will kill you that little bit extra..."

As best I can remember, that was primarily Thebans and people ripping them off. Spartans actually made a point of assigning units by skill and ability instead of lovers.

And also having a primitive eugenics program where their PRECIOUS SEED was supposed to be saved for Spartan Women to conceive with... even if the occasional lusting after hairless boys was considered a perfectly normal part of life. (Somewhat shameful, because Spartans are supposed to feel nothing but blood and rage, but something everybody did anyway.)

Nah, the Spartans assigned a young soldier just out of their training school to an older partner- it was pretty institutionalised, being gay in Sparta if you were a citizen (helots another matter). And it wasn't so much eugenics as an older husband saying to his wife go sleep with that very fit and healthy young man so our babies will be fit and healthy and strong. Also, by the later Classical Greek world the Spartan citizen population had dwindled dramatically- they kept on trying to produce heirs to expand their core army but because of the land requirements (each citizen had to have a certain size estate), got a bit difficult (through the generations inheritance meant land was being split up more and more until it was no longer big enough to qualify so at the lowest point there were only a couple of thousand "true" spartan citizens trained up).
