I don't even like MLP, or even begin to comprehend why so many adults like it, but I'm okay with Wally watching it with his kids. That's being a good parent, my dad used to watch all sorts of cartoons and other tv shows with me as a kid. But yeah, I would like it if the official explanation for all the changes was "Barry wanted it to be that way." He'd be the best unintentional villain ever, just a guy, trying to make the world better but remodelling it in his vision.
I just think that it's funny that when Hal did the exact same thing (or attempted it) during Zero Hour it was treated as a near-Crisis level event, but here it seems to be Barry going "Whoops, I kind of broke history trying to stop my mum from getting murdered. Oh well, I guess I could put it back good as it was, but I'm lazy so this'll have to do."
Come to think of it, wasn't messing with history to revive his mother also how Hawk went evil as well or something? Or am I getting confused with Atom Smasher (who actually succeeded in reviving his mum).
i thought he changed things back but was told he wouldn't be able to put things back exactly the way it was.... not change things according to how he thinks they should be.... (unless you mean the initial change in saving his mom....?)
oh yeah i agree... i think in trying to make his intentions good, they made him come off as more of a bumbbling idiot than most people took him for....
Yeah, it's like Barry was going through history, fixing everything. I'd like to think that at first he was trying to set it back to normal, or make it better. Like he saw Barbara Gordon and thought "She's a nice girl, I'd like to help her." and did, but was later met with how big history is and the little details got more difficult, like "Who did Clark marry? Lois or Lana? I remember her name started with an L." and decided just to leave him single.
Admittedly, I've only been reading comics since Dick became Batman, and I've not ventured too far out of Gotham either. So I have no idea about any of that.
I was just wondering if they thought about getting him to see a therapist. I mean, spending years constantly running from a relentless personification of death can't be good for mental health...
He should share a therapist with the Doctor, but do you really think that any therapist would take either of them on? Odds are they'd be dead or insane by the end of the episode/ issue.
Ironically the best person who they could probably talk to would be Death of the Endless, and she only really talks to people outside of "office hours" on special occasions, like accidentally teleporting into her flat.
Come on now, he's not doing so badly in this half of the season. I think the last time we saw him die was The Doctor's Wife. Who knows if we can keep him alive for the last two episodes as well.
well he THOUGHT he died in the Night terrors episode. "Oh, oh god, were dead again... the elevator fell and we died. Or the tardis has gone all timey whimey"
awwwe now that would be cute... and it makes sense! OMG!!!! i just relaized.... Neil gaiman created death.... but he also created the Doctor's Wife aka the Tardis.... The Doctor's Wife is an expy for death! The Doctor's wife has a crush on Rory... ipso facto... DEATH LOVES RORY!!!!
Dont question my logic, it is comic book sound! comicbook sound i tell you!!!*
Just to see the catfight that would ensue between Death and Amy I would do anything. I'm actually not sure which is the bigger force of nature at this point, Death or Amy. Probably Amy.
Also Hal's plan for Zero Hour (a mini I never liked but had some ideas) was much more complex than Flashpoint. Hal wanted to bring back the Multiverse (which no longer existed at that point) and have a world for EVERYTHING and every possibility (such as a Barbara Gordon who was never shot by the Joker). For this he was the most evilest evil that ever eviled and had to be killed by his BEST FRIEND while all the other heroes (who had all been friends of Hal at some point) celebrated his death (including Superman). Which made the later "Funeral/Memorial" issue for Hal after Final Night where some of the same people were eulogizing Hal so hypocritical, no wonder Hal fans wouldn't accept THAT death as final. One could argue the only people who should have spoken at Hal's funeral were not Superman and Wonder Woman but Dinah, Carol, Tom, John Stewart and (ironically) Kyle since they never treated Parallax Hal as a monster.
Of course Johns had to do away with all that complexity by making it all the fault of a giant yellow space bug, just like Flashpoint is handwaved as the fault of the Reverse Flash instead of Barry screwing up and destroying many lives (and marriages - including his own apparently) in the process.
Not only have you captured precisely why I have always hated Barry Allen (and hate him even more now), you have managed to make me skonk tea into my sinuses. Ow.
So Barry Allen has turned from the "saint" of the DCU (following his sacrifice in COIE) to the guy who has officially messed up everything? How is that an improvement, DC?
And please don't get them any ideas. Hooking up Lois and Barry is exactly the kind of thing the present regime WOULD do (since Iris and Lois are both reporters you know and the head Superman editor thinks Lois was just a "trophy wife" anyhow and now Barry is a swinging bachelor too just like NuClark).
I wish Jenny Quantum actually worked at DC. It seems they don't have a single dissenting person in their war/editing room to say "Hey, guys, I really don't think Amanda Waller should be a young hot thin chick like everyone else." or something of that sort.
yeah but wasn't he supposed to be the one who wrote Static Shock before he passed? i know some changes were made at DC after his death because he died... i just don't remember what....
something tells me i should really start watching MLP.... i keep meaning to.... :(
heh gotta love Jenny here...
green lead paint... oh Hal... that would TOTALLY explain sooo much...
and honestly... if this WAS the reason "Letting the world slip while i was gone" hell at LEAST that would be interesting.... that is ground works for at the VERY least, anti-hero territoriy.... but the way it played out made him a sap...
hehe yep. God help anyone who shows up witha muffin top. also poor clem, who thought it would be funny to show up dressed as a muffin for halloween last year... he never saw it coming....
Thank you. I never read Flash Point, but Barry Allen tried to undo what Zoom did and ended up messing up the time stream? And did he really make changes to history based on his biases? That's...you would think someone as smart as Barry would have realized that messing with history leads to lots of potential issues. Did Booster Gold get on him for this?
