Not really any more angsty and issueheavy than the original series, what with all the genocide, racism, divine right to rule, manifest destiny and varying justifications for fascism that were displayed by various characters.
From what I was able to see, there was still the comedy moments in the series (blending with the other stuff to prevent it being jarring), as well as light moments such as the Aang/Katara romance, which really was kind of sweet.
Though I'm hopelessly sentimental about that kind of thing. Like when I heard that Lindsay Ellis and Todd in the Shadows are a couple now in real life, I was all like awwwwww. ^^
It seems to be pretty much the same tone as the original series, a blend of light and dark that balance each other well.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
