The first two DC Nation shorts... and a clearer (if very short) look at Amethyst

This is the first one by Aardman Animation (creators of Wallace and Gromit), taking the Oscar (and other award) winning "Creature Comforts" format of matching samples of conversation taken from the general public and matching it to animation. Except rather than animals, they're doing something a little more super

And this one is the first Chibi Titans short!

Speaking of the Teen Titans Go, I did just see this over on Tumblr, followed it to DA and.... in the midst of realising I'm spending too much time hopping between social media sites... thought you might like this

And this is a better, if very, very short (3 seconds) teaser for Amethyst, put up by permission of WB by Brianne Drouhard, the Animation Crew lead for the Amethyst short. It may be 3 seconds, but it looks fabulous!

Finally, someone put the short online. It's about time too. I felt I was the only one on the internet who actually saw it, but there was no evidence it actually aired so I was just insane.

I want to have faith in something like Amethyst but the cynic in me keeps seeing it as WB trying to snag some of that Brony market Hasbro unexpectedly found.

Amethyst is perfect cartoon and action figure material. That was obvious from the moment it debuted back in the 1980's. It was DC/WB never exploiting it that was baffling.

That Teen Titans pic is awesome. Looks like a combo of the animation, young justice, and even current dc continuity.

I'm pretty sure the Aardman ones are intended as commercial bumpers. They are nicely reminiscent of Creature Comforts, which was pretty great.

It's nice to have some more of the Teen Titans cartoon in one form or another, for the fans of the show - though I would have preferred the actual tiny Titans animated personally :P

I've always been curious about Amethyst. I never read anything with her, though, but I see a lot of people love the character. In order to cure my ignorance, what makes her so fascinating?

It was a classic Billy Batson/Captain Marvel scenario, but with a female protagtonist, being released in a mainstream DC comic in the 1980's, plus it was a swords and sorcery adventure a la She-Ra.

Amy Winston is a 12 year old girl, adopted as a baby, who discovers that the one link she has with her birth parents, an amethyst pendant, allows her to travel to another world where she is suddenly 20 years old physically, has some impressive magical powers, and is the lost princess of a Royal House laid waste by the power hungry Dark Opal and his minions (notably the sort-of-Starscream-like Sardonyx and son Carnelian). A classic story well told (with some interesting twists and turns too, like dealing with the fact that Amy spends her life at two different ages in two different worlds) and some terrific art by Ernie Colon to boot.
