If I'm disappointed by anything (and it's just the one thing), it's the rather... bland architecture of Republic City, which looks terribly generic and normal. I would perhaps have hoped for a more unique style.

we haven't seen the interior yet, only the market level... I am going to guess it's close to one of the coastal metropolises along the east Pacific Coast.

I would even argue it's like Marvel's Madripoor.

Well, one is described as being a quiet bookworm, and other a hyperactive motormouth, so that might be intentional.

Anyone else think that Amon will be Azula's kid? It makes sense to me, Azula is a firebender prodigy, and from a long line of benders for that matter, for her to have a child that couldn't firebend would have been absolutely humiliating. Which could have easily led to a life of neglect and abuse for Amon (He could even be wearing the mask to hide the number of burns he received by Azula in her attempt to force him to bend).

Besides the resentment towards his mother, you could also see him looking at the Fire Nation and realize that it's entire history has been dominated by Firebenders, they're essentially the ruling elite. That could further his dislike of benders, because regular Fire Nation people have never been allowed to govern themselves.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, and it turns out that Amon is either completely unrelated to any of the main cast, OR he's the son of Sokka. ;p

Another possibility I've heard bandied about is that Amon will turn out to be Aang and Katara's nonbending child.

(And this theory of KosagiNoLegion's is so ingeniously elegant that I want to make sure it's a matter of record: since Word of God has it that the Cabbage Guy, although no longer around, will have left "a legacy"...perhaps it was he who founded what would become the Equalist movement; he certainly had ample cause to resent benders.)

You know, that thought came to me just a moment ago. Though he'd be a bit elderly, wouldn't he?

I'm not suggesting that the Cabbage Guy=Amon--merely that he originally founded the movement, which may have existed for some time.

An idea of my own (not mutually exclusive with the above) regarding the nature of his legacy: he settled down in Republic City and eventually expanded his operation into a supermarket. Korra will, inevitably, get into a fight there, and the floor will run green with slaw.

I'm so looking forward to this, i watched a scene from the first episode already where Korra is Fire-Bending, and there's a special person there from the first Avatar series. I won't say, because i don't want to hear...you're spoiling it, but i will admit i was so happy.
