Ringing in the New Year
Dec. 31st, 2011 05:56 pmHere's another New Year's post! This strip was taken from "Dandy and Beano--Magic Moments", a book reprinting some favorite holiday comics from Britain's long-running weeklies.
The Beano specializes in "naughty" characters, such rapscallions as Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx, the Bash Street Kids, and the famous comedy duo we hear from today....

Not much I can say to that. And while we're on the subject of Austria's least favorite son, here's the cover for "Violent Night", a story in which Doc Savage battles Hitler.

But then again, Everyone has fought Hitler. Even Fu Manchu in "The Drums of Fu Manchu!"
and to round out today's post, here's a jigsaw puzzle from "Sky Birds" April 1933 for you to print out and solve.

Your thoughts and comments?
Happy New Year,
SKJAM!

Date: 2012-01-01 12:51 am (UTC)It does make me think of the old WWII song, also used in "Dad's Army"
"Whistle while you work.
Hitler is a berk.
He's half-barmy,
So's his army.
Whistle while you work!"
Or the more "grown-up"
"Hitler, has only got one ball
Goerring has two, but they're both small
Himmler, has something similar
And poor Goebbels, has no balls, at all"
Sung to the tune of the Colonel Bogey March. And of which there are many variations

Date: 2012-01-01 04:14 am (UTC)It was always a mashup of these 2 verses, where I lived.
Hitler - had one fat ball
the other - is in the Albert Hall
His Mother - who ate the other
Is still lying dead in Albert Hall
She threw it over West Germany
It landed in the deep blue sea,
The fishes got out their dishes,
And had scallops and bollocks for tea.
His mother chopped it off, instead of eating it and then threw it into the sea.
