DC Finally Names the Redhooded Lady

On the bright side, at least it wasn't Ambush Bug.

But now let me guess: there's going to be a 'Pandora's Box' somewhere in the DC Universe that someone is going to be stupid enough to open, bring about an 'apocalypse' of sorts, and the entire DC universe will either be further clusterfucked again, or it'll attempt to 'fix' it up. Thing is...if they go this route, this 'plot' has been overly done by now (not just by comics, but by movies, tv shows, books, etc) that it's not even an original storyline anymore.

Either way, as long as I get to keep Earth-2 this time around and they don't eff things up any more than they already are, I'm good.

If I remember that issue right, Pandora said that the three universes (DC, Wildstorm, Vertigo) were once together, but were pulled apart. What if pulling it apart was trying to "close the box," and now someone's trying to close it again?

I dunno--I'm not going to say anything good or bad until we actually get a taste of what her story/mission is.

All I know is my first thought was Doctor Who Series 5 with the whole 'cracks in time' thing they had going, people and events being erased from time and history as a result of them, and then fixing it all up with Big Bang 2.

But what could be let out of a box at this point? I mean it was kind of Krona's thing that he couldn't leave mysteries hidden and he did the whole glimpse into the past and shatter reality bit which pre-crisis caused the multiverse and post crisis the formation of the Anti Matter universe.

SERIOUSLY. The mistake DC makes whenever it does these reboots is that it eventually makes the reboot A STORY IN ITSELF, and then we're right back to the original problem. (see: the clusterfuck we remember as INFINITE CRISIS, which resulted from just that sort of thing) And I KNEW they were going to do this, I just expected them to wait longer.

Well for one: "Funny books" that's how they used to be called. And it's all seriously lacking the funny part as of late.
And two: If it isn't the Bug, that means a big epic crossover-epic event-Crisis is coming again....

eh i'm a fan of reapropriating myth for modern story telling. So the whole "Pandora" and "Pandora's Box" thing is intruiging to me. its a common trope but quite frankly nothing is ever new. so to me it will depend on how it all plays out.

also the box might be a metaphorical box. not an actual box. but think about it, we might get a new female character out of it name Hope :D *shrug* i don't know, i'm a fan of mythology and have always thought of comics as modern Myth... so when they start using myth overtly subtly i kinda like it.

I mean, is having a mythological name supposed to make her presence more mystical, or make her interesting? Do people in DC really think something like this is worth of posting? Or they think fictional person with a name=created and developed character?
I just don´t get how is this supposed to bring interest from readers (even though it apparently does).

Which is something I really don't get.I mean, Azzarelo said, he wanted to give Wonder Woman's origin male element (to make her relatable to male audience, if I remember corectly (which by the way, I don't know like other people, but I relate to characters because of who they are, not how they were born)). So, why couldn't he just make someone say "oh, by the way, it was Zeus, who used his power to give you life". It's simple, it pleases both audiences (even though I don't know anyone who was demanding Wondy to have father) and he can still tell stories, what he seems to want.

Because I'd say making her birth and primary source of empowerment be a male god who has a really, really lousy track record in terms of his treatment of women, would be sending a very odd message for Wonder Woman.

The Pandora myth is so well known, that naming her after it instantly suggests her nature; someone who innocently unleashed chaos and torment on the world but also left us hope. As these things go it's no worse a name than "Doctor Doom"

Ummm... Perez didn't give Diana earlier incarnations, he made her the soul of the unborn child of Hippolyta's previous incarnation. She'd had no human form from her foetal stage to her current bodies creation by the Gods.

Personally I think Pandora IS Donna Troy. She's the link to the Multiverse now and her "box" (goddess that sounds dirty) is the gateway to other worlds.
