Note, the complaints aren't about the sexism in both books, they're about the sexual content.

I just heard that in US Red Hood and Outlaws is rated T+ and no kids under 16 should be allowed to get it...So isn't the reporter showing kids that book doing something illegal? O_o

I think that since it's a company instituted rating system instead of a government enforced one, it's not so much as illegal as it is ignoring something that is there to avoid these complaints in the first place.

Like, it's illegal to sell an 18-rated game to someone younger than that because the government said so through it's game and DVD rating agency. While it's just up to the parents of the kids who want it or the comic shop owners whether they want to abide by the DC rating system or not.

If the characters had originated in kids' entertainment 70 years ago and now were just used in adult entertainment, that would be one thing, but the characters are still heavily marketed to children. Even before they can read, they know who Batman and Spider-Man are and probably own something with their images. It's not unreasonable to think there's something wrong when the major comic companies are doing that, but the most heavily promoted and easily available comic books featuring those characters aren't kid-friendly.

But these people are complaining specificly about stories, that clearly are not marketed towards children and if someone is so stupid, to buy their kids something rated 16+, without even reading it and expecting childfriendly adventure, then theres problem with him/her.

I see Marvel superheroes like Transformers. The franchise is just too big, to be judged as solely for kids or adults, its for both (which doesnt excuse Bayformers, which were clearly marketed towards children and the "mature" elements were there just for the sake of it and were extremely imature).

I doubt it. They look like mockups someone's thrown together. Note that we've already had that Superman cover and Wonder Woman cover published already, and I think the same applies to the Green Lantern one. Unfamiliar with the Batman one, which could be a variant..

But these're mostly old covers.

It just amuses me that regular news media are always so out of date when it comes to comics news, like the UK media talking about then prime minister Gordon Brown being in 'Captain Britain and MI13' several months after the issue was released and getting all the details wrong (like them saying the Brown was actually leading the charge against the Skrull invasion, for example).

And then there's the multiple stories about how Batwoman is a lesbian, first the ones back when 52 was released (where they thought that she was Barbara) and then again when her series was released.

Even more recently, there was the hullaballoo about how Batman now had a French Muslim "sidekick", complete with some American conservative commentators talking about how he might secretly be a terrorist (that guy was actually interviewed by the Daily Show just to showcase his level of crazy).

well to be fair, this is an affiliate, the Washington affiliate, not the Fox News Channel, so editorial content could/would be different.

Roger Ailes recently decided to try to make FNC more centrist. I think he is not trying hard... Not watching anything but Fox News Watch (weekly) so I have no idea. (My husband works for Premiere Radio... much of this isn't my fault!)

And when was the last time Fox had ANY programming for kids? The only cartoons they show are Family Guy and The Simpsons. I don't care t to talk about politics but they couldn't be anymore hypocritical.

So bland....even worse now... this is why I dislike that companies (like DC in this case) nowadays prefer to use external graphic designers who will produce such sterile and unrelated logos for products..rather than having people on board, co-working with the guys creating the comics.

In this case, people working on the comics, making their own logo.

I already had the same problem with these New 52 series' logo...but now the DC logo follows the same pattern of "hi-tech design modern logo", and even worse, looks completely unrelated to the material. There's no synchronization or harmony between the books/cover art/content and and the series' logo or the DC ones...

(ps: Yes, I'm a graphic designer)
(ps2: yes, I can recognize graphic designers and myself included often work on our side of things, making things pleasant visually/design without thinking about a correlation, a link if you will among product and representation/logo)
