It seems the Skrulls did their homework but I have a doubt. How were they able to beat Dr. Strange? The guy can trade blows with Mephisto.
For some reason I imagine the Skrulls torturing Reed by saying "Where are your Comic Book Monsters now, Richards? That will teach you for making us act like cows".
Bendis. Whenever Strange gets near a Bendis' book he suddenly becomes unable to magic his way out of a wet paper bag. Houdini could probably beat him in a magical duel under Bendis, and Houdini didn't even believe in magic.
It's an longstanding problem any time they put Doc on a superhero team: Nothing short of a demigod should cause him any trouble at all. I remember Steve Gerber struggled with it constantly in DEFENDERS, coming up with solutions that were sometimes elegant (the Headmen surreptitiously alter Doc's brain patterns, causing his magic to work erratically) and sometimes less so (Doc gets conked on the head and remains unconscious for the entire issue).
Despite being a Dr. Strange fanboy, I don't really have a problem with this. Strange's skills and abilities are great for fighting against godawfully powerful dimensional conquerors and demons and such, but he's still physically human. If he's distracted or can't quite keep track of a large number of opponents in a fight, he can easily be taken down by weapons or physical attacks that Iron Man, Black Bolt, and Namor would shrug off. And the Skrulls clearly had the sense to keep him disoriented (I assume that's a gyroscope thingie he's spinning in?) and possibly unconscious after capture rather than just locking him in a cell with his hands bound.
Reminds me a little of one of Marv Wolfman's old New Teen Titans issues, where a couple of Branx Warriors sit around discussing holiday spots whilst on guard duty.
You know, it always gets me how IMs armor, android-characters, and such is often called primitive by aliens, yet better in performance than 95% of what they have.
Maybe advanced aliens and future people build all of that sort of high tech stuff deliberately more fragile than they could (and than "primitive" tech) so it does break down more easily, in order to not exhaust the demand and so they can still have a market to sell to.
