Ya know I've seen people who draw Damian like he's older than he is but this is ridiculous. He looks like he could be Tim's age, not ten. I think it stands out cause I just reread all of Batman and Robin that's out but jeez, dude.
Indeed, aside from being as off model for Damian as it's possible to get without actually making him Steph, this isn't as egregious as I might have thought. It's still not good, but is merely bad rather than horrifying.
Quite so. It's still pretty bad, but my eyes don't physically hurt, so that's a huge plus. Could it be the additional responsibillity of drawing DC's New 52 titles and internet criticism is getting to him?
lousy art, although for some reason Batman's face in that first panel does make me think Adam West. Anyone else or is this one time on SD where it is just me?
Well, the art is sort of passable. But hey this Liefeld fella is new to comics so he'll have time to improve. Wait, he's been an artist how long? Usual Liefeld art comments aside...
But yeah. something tells me Liefeld wasn't quite sure if he was drawing Tim or Damian here because Robin looks like some sort of cross between the two.
... it's like vintage Gil Kane, only horribly, horribly wrong.
And, way to tell a story, O Graphic Storyteller -- by calling the action in captions while we're looking at it. Did Liefeld learn his dramatic writing technique from Cooks Illustrated Magazine?
I could see that--probably would work better if he was simply crouching down in that panel, the "enough" panel having him starting to leap down, and the next having him drop to the floor.
That last scan. The art(?) looks as if it's the moment before a punch but the dialogue seems to indicate that Hawk already hit him and Blockbuster going down but he still has his eyes open and there's no background so where are they in relationship to Batman in the last panel how did he move so that Hawk would hit him, why did he move if he had him groggy and Damian doesn't have a neck when "side kicking" that other person and how does that make him dangerous to Hawks internal monologue and that face in that last panel doesn't look human at all and asdsfdgffgfdcsamrk
Yeah, not regretting dropping this book when Gates left. I'd been tempted to keep reading the last few issues, but when it came down to it...no, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Date: 2012-02-04 11:47 am (UTC)That first panel....it's not physically possible to support your weight like that (also, the atrocious bat symbol LOL)
The aforementioned Damien looking to be in his mid/late teens problem
The way Liefield draws Dove's cape specifically only ever gets worse rather than better
...of course it makes perfect sense they are giving Liefield more books, why do you ask? :D
