He was the guy who alterned between feminism and bondage, I remember the character Eta Candy, It was original and funny, but besides that I stand, Jimenez and Perez are the ones who took Wonder Woman to the next level, I only can compare It with Byrne on Superman and Miller on Batman.
If you like Perez check out Jimenez, he draws the most beautiful wonder woman I´ve ever seen and his stories were so much better than Azzarelo´s.
He worked only on 30 issues but is still the last time Diana had a glorious comic, It also helps that Perez is Phil´s spitiual father (Jimenez also worked on Team Titans, Titans, Titans/JLA and Infinite Crisis...)
I have no shame in saying... I have the entire WW run from Perez's reboot to Gail Simone's last issue. ('will probably pick up JMS' Odyssey as soon as it hits TPB softcovers)
So yeah, I've read and seen it all, from good Dr. Psycho stories to Cheetah's continual return, bad crossovers, attack of other deities, Paradise Island being continuously destroyed/relocated, etc..
I know that Rucka wrote some excellent Wonder Woman stories and is much admired, but I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth at his casual destruction of the rather wonderful new Themiscriya that Jimenez had created, which even had he not actively used it was surely a springboard to many interesting stories across the DCU.
Um... maybe it means I'm just interested in knowing more about the lady who helped create such a fine and upstanding son? Or possibly it just means I was anticipating a load of cool vintage girls' comic scans.
"And as if I'd EVER refer to my mother as "Mom", that's an Americanism too far"
Well yes, that did strike me as a bit odd...
(That's not a subtle dig at me and my frequent use of Americanisms, is it? :P)
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.

I don't know what this says about me.

Date: 2012-03-09 01:09 pm (UTC)Nice recovery, thank you! :)
Mum's never been a big fan of comics to be honest, she certainly doesn't own any.
(Oh, and I don't think you're any more guilty of Americanisms than I am, so no, you're quite safe there.)
