(Andrew gets some sympathy points for the abuse, but he totally botches understanding the difference between why Apex Predators (which are animals) and Sociopaths (which are humans) )
Okay, I'm meaning "animal" as in "savage/wild" vs "sentient, civilized."
Getting away from the linguistics, the scene in question has a character trying to use biology in an argument that is really more about justifying Nietzschean views of morality, where the superior being doesn't have to follow lesser beings morality; but the kid was obviously doing things much more for revenge than surviving in his environment as a "predator." (and ham-fisted philosophy speeches were more a character trait of his cousin).
I get what the writers were going for, with a greater motivation behind a Start Of Darkness, but the whole "deeper psychology" breaks down outside the scene and just becomes an odd thing. Like they wanted to tack on an interesting speech in the middle of a character going evil and oh yeah, he's abused and paranoid and none of that actual matters if it's correct or not.
Honestly? Its due to an offhand reference in "Villains United". Pariah mentioned the "Apex Predator" was on its way, I believe as a reference to Superboy Prime. Then I thought. "AWWW YEAH, ITS AWESOME, MUST HAVE"
Then it was a reference to my job. As a salesman at the time, I was top book on my department. So I named myself that.
And then Randy Orton of the WWE started using it, so it got a little more limelight. To me, it just means the animal at the top of the food chain. The one that's not hunted by anyone else, just does the hunting.
"Apex predator" is a term from biology IIRC. Every local environment has an apex predator, the one at the top of the food chain who isn't predated upon themselves.
On Earth that's pretty much always humans, but not exclusively so, and in area's we haven't colonised (like the oceans), the local apex predator might be just about anything (bacteria and parasites are usually excluded)
I didn't issue you a warning, I was only letting you know that your images needed to be behind an LJ-cut. :P
Mod notes and warnings are two very different things and get utilised depending on the type and degree of infraction. For minor infractions of the rules (such as forgetting to place a large image behind a cut), we leave a mod note letting the poster know their post needs fixing. For major infractions such as being disrespectful of other members, repeatedly demonstrating oppressive behaviour, etc is stuff that we normally issue warnings for.
.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That Panel where he beats the guy with his arm. God it reminds me of Quan Chi's fatality in Mortal Kombat 4 where he rips someone's leg off and beats them with it. I laughed then too.
I know that ripping off an arm and beating its former owner with it is meant to be gruesome and/or awesome, but I can't help but laugh with the giant bolded "WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!" in that panel.
I don't quite understood why Bane says he has rspect for Batman, if only becaue in Knightfall, Bane cheated. Batman already had something wrong wtth him before the Arkham breakout So by the time they fought in the Batcave, Batman was so tired he could hardly stand up.
Bane's never really been challenged once he was at his apex. Pardon the pun. Batman took the backbreaking and his entire breakdown, worked himself into a better shape, and then tore the plan apart. In further adventures, he was able to counter anything Bane threw at him. Its technically a higher plane version of "Game recognizes Game."

He is no mere kingpin thug playing to traditional social hierarchy. He is superior to all no matter his current position. He is Bane.

Brushing teeth/in a shower: "DESHI DESHI BASARA BASARA!"
Getting dressed "DESHI DESHI BASARA BASARA!!"
And it all goes until I have my first cup of coffee at work. Its not just me, right?
