That is some lovely art, especially the last page, if only it weren't ruined by that costume... which I just CANNOT get to work at all (and I'm a guy who can justify the Disco!Wing costume)

Crotch-thing aside, I'd like it if not for the boots that protect every part of her lower leg EXCEPT FOR THE KNEES.

Well, when your body is tougher than any personal armor this side of the Entropy Aegis then you probably don't pay too much care on how protective your clothing are. Not that I can think of any other reason except running out of fabric that would explain this fashion faux pas either.

Compared to the travesty Power Girl is wearing in this new DCU, I can actually get by Supergirl's costume, kneeholes and crotchplate aside. XP

I actually like the costume and I think it would work, except for the fact that she needs blue tights. Fill in the skin with blue and I'd love it.

Thats definatly what she's implying here, that Kara isn't a normal Kryptonian (hence her divergent powers).

...I would find it hilarious of Kara metamorphosized into Doomsday, 90's spikes and all.

That would seem odd because, from what we've seen, it looks like she has regular, Kryptonian memories. Of course, that could be imprinted...and that could be used to make sure that while Kara may be linked to Clark now, he's still the last "pure" Kryptonian.

But I'm also hoping that the divergent powers comes from the idea that the solar radiation affects Kryptonians in different ways. I think that's a really cool idea.

The fact that Reign is implying it so blatantly, in such an obvious attempt to get to Kara is the strongest bit of evidence that she's not.

The Kryptonian people in the pre-52 universe covered the majority of their skin and frowned on casual skinship. The idea of blatantly displaying their inner thighs - not to mention *ugh* the crotchplate - would have repulsed them. Normally I don't condemn retcons, but here I'd like to see that particular piece of history preserved over this gauche abomination. I LIKE fanservice, I really do. Heck, I grew up ogling Wonder Woman. But this? This isn't even fanservice, her outfit is a huge turnOFF (maybe that's some sort of insane plan to de-sexualize her?)

The context of my statement is that her lower outfit is so incredibly TERRIBLE, that it fails to be even remotely sexy. It's almost like the Young Justice villain whose breasts where so large she kept falling over. Instead of being sexy its just plain gross.

I believe the term is "Fan Disservice."

....and I still don't see we needed to reboot to have Supergirl in adventures like the above (or this art). this could have been as easily a continuation of the previous and quite recent Supergirl title!

Honestly, I'm just glad they're covering up more of her than usual comic heroines get.

The top is pretty good, and I actually like the crotch plate, but everything goes downhill from there.

You know, it's kind of strange. There are so many costumes that bother the fuck out of me and that no one else seems to care that much about (Ice's costume, Dinah's eighties outfit, Wonder Woman's Odyssey outfit, etc.) and this costume bothers everyone but me.

I mean, don't me wrong, I don't think it's a good costume. But I don't think it's a bad one, either. It's definitely kind of awkward, but I spend exactly zero percent of my reading the issue thinking about it. Whereas everyone else seems to spend about ninety-five percent of their time. Which is a shame, really. It's definitely one of the better titles of the DCnU (the best in my opinion) and I wish more people would concentrate on its awesomeness and not on the costume fail.
