I mean, Dark Phoenix not only destroyed the D'Bari's star (thus the entire Planet of the Asparagus People), she also destroyed a Shi'ar starship and everyone on it. So, the D'Bari and those people on the Shi'ar ship just "didn't work"?

Oh, and bear in mind the D'Bari weren't destroyed by the Phoenix directly. They died as a side effect of Phoenix eating their sun. She had no malice towards them, she just didn't care about them. (Which doesn't excuse her of course, but...)

Isn't the Phoenix the cosmic embodiment of evolution or something? Theoretically it ought be able to manifest in any living thing in existence. And anyway, when you're a cosmic psionic godlike superbeing capable of FTL, snacking on a sun in a different galaxy one moment and possessing a redhead on Earth the next moment is a trivial matter.

It rather defeats the point of moving at lower speeds planet to planet when you can teleport that vast distance. Also it is rather silly to go to Hope for a few second light show only to return to where you previous were. Then again who knows what goes through a cosmic being's mind.

Meh either way godmodding Mary Sue Hope doesn't need the Phoenix Force with her power base. It will get to the point where everyone can retire because Hope will fix it as she is so great and so powerful. I swear if they give her non-mutant powers or just normal skills like Hawkeye's archery skill I'll just avoid the Cyclops faction full stop.

Now this is a complete wank, but didn't his eye glow when he used his telekinetic or telepathic powers, and his other eye was fake and had been replaced by a glass eye or something? And the reason his eye glows so damn much, is because he is constantly using his powers to keep the TK virus at bay.
