I'm a little disappointed. He was more interesting as SWORD's version (sort of) of Garak. Having him go full-tilt villain is much less creative.

I agree mainly because Terminus tends develop in stages. Starting at nanite stage, where they grow and eventually they combine to a singular large Terminus.

Hmmm guess Magneto can affect their organic metal skin like he can Colossus's.

Yes, Illyana's Stepping Disks (borrowing the term from Larry Niven's "Known Space" where it's the name of their teleport tech) always used to be simple yellow disks.

As her teleport powers ARE her mutant power, not her arcane one, the pentagram seems a little bit OTT, but it's always been a cool visual.

I can't say I've read a lot with Magik in it, but I could have swore I saw the pentagrams there before. Plus, I was under the assumption that she went through a power overhaul from being in Hell and all that, so maybe her Mutant powers and her arcane powers are intertwined?

Whether it is or not, I can accept it because it looks METAL.

She used pentagrams before, but when casting spells, rather than teleporting.

To highlight the fact she was a "corrupted" magic user, being two fifths evil because of the Beatrix Medallion only having two portions of her soul out of a possible five in it, when she created a casting circle around her self, she would face the base of the star (a position associated with black magic) but the circle would be formed of white fire (associated with white magic)

It looks cool, but I think I prefer the distinction between her mutant power and her magical skills to remain pronounced.

Her powers remind me a lot of Wakfu's Yugo. Yugo's even more overpowered though, since he can shoot laser beams through his portals.

Well, yes, but I saw Wakfu first. Besides, Ilyana's powers used to look like simple yellow discs instead of awesome blue portals like Yugo's.

Another similarity that she and Yugo have is that a demonic villain wanted to exploit their teleportation powers to conquer the world. Except the demon harassing Yugo didn't want to marry him too.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as it's been ages since I followed Illyana's story in the X-Men and New Mutants books, but when she's assumed Belasco's mystic powers in the past haven't they included immortality and physical invulnerability? So, if she wanted to, she could just switch to Darkchilde form and the explosive booby-traps Cyclops has had her fitted with wouldn't do more than muss her hair?

I like her old ones better. There's just something intrinsictly magical about a glowing portal... you know it leads somewhere, but not necessarily where.

Pentagrams just seem... gimmicky. Like, "look at me, I'm quasi-evil and edgy!"
