hmmm i don't know.... i liked the interaction with them.... just think making fun of alfred's cooking is not a mortal sin... the dude can have ONE DISH he's not good at.... you know how hard pancakes are to make?
This. My parents can both cook, but generally speaking my dad cooks better. However, only my mom's pancakes are worth eating; my dad makes a mean omelette, though. (I still mess up making pancakes sometimes, myself, and that's even with having a mix to cheat with. Yet I can make scones from scratch and have them come out perfect every time. Go figure.)
Oh, right. Well, that works. (And my post can still stand as is with a simple swap of words; my dad's waffles aren't anything to write home about, either, despite him generally being an excellent cook, though probably not quite up to Alfred standards.)
Hee, great strip. I don't know what's better, Alfred's sad face, Cass's angry face, or Jason's "Ketamine" face.
You know, I can actually see Tim forgiving Jason and being willing to have a meal with him without it being some sort of trap. You know, given the way superheroes are relatively trusting of people who have gone over to the dark side but come back or villains trying to reform for the umpteenth time.
But Alfred failing at pancakes? That is where my suspension of disbelief goes out the window.
I assume it's the fact that Cass WAS an unrepentant killer in the Beechen era Robin title, which no one mentions any more. We may not like it, but it IS a large elephant in the room.
Of course they did handwave that away with the whole Deathstroke magic evil juice stuff (and then never gave us any follow up on Cass dealing with killing people against her will - even in Beechan's mini when she's back wanting to murder Deathstroke and her father which further proves Beechan had no idea of the character at all - even when he had plenty of time and incentive to think about it).
Jason doesn't have that excuse (unless you want to say the Lazarus Pit damaged his mind - which it probably did).
It any good can come out of the reboot its that the Beechan-era Cass never existed anymore (heck I'd wager that Cass's whole career as Batgirl never existed anymore).
Sorry, but I don't think "turning on the anti-villain while he is in the middle of a Heel Face Turn, thus convincing him that he can never trust his family and that attempting to be good would never work, and then handing him over to a cardboard prison that can't seem to keep its inmates locked up for more than a week" could possibly be called competent :P
Yeah, I was sort of surprised by the new status quo. The old Jason and Tim would have turned that breakfast into a murderous chess game, with one trying to poison the other or something...
