Yeah--I wasn't even a huge fan of the original (liked it, but didn't LOVE it), but at first I wasn't interested because it appeared to be a retread, then it just got weird.

That said, I did pick up #9, because it tied in to Green Lantern: New Guardians...it was actually pretty fun. Got a good laugh from what happens when Jaime meets Bleez for the first time...in an awfully close manner, too. XD
