I actually liked this issue much better than the last, and as usual, the flashback story is more interesting than the present one.

Welp, that definitely confirms who Helena's mom is. Makes me wonder if maybe we'll get a hint on how the Bat/Cat combo got together so soon in/during Earth 2 #0.

And yeah, if Peegee had to have some costume damage, it HAD to be there. You know, now that I think about it--that would definitely be a way to make both the "boob window" and the symbol work--have it so that the big circle inside the "P" is the window. Do that, add a little more color to it, maybe have some open arms and legs, it could work out fairly well as a costume for her.

And speaking of costume changes for our girls--can we PLEASE ask Helena to lose her silly-looking shoulder pads? Pretty please?

Good issue overall--it's kind of the standard, no-risk superhero story, but it's pulling it off pretty well.

I can't decide which moment I like better - her perched on the mountain of unconcious boys with that hat, or her sleeping in a Batman t-shirt.

You know, it wasn't until you mentioned it that I didn't put 2 and 2 together that she basically yoinked the hat from one of the guys she beat up. That's awesome. :D

I dunno, I don't think I'd want a hat that had been on some unpleasant gang members head, think of the grease, the dandruff, the possible headlice (If he has clean looking hair, lice prefer that)

Is there a scan cut between the guys approaching the women and Kara threatening to throw a car at them? Because that seems like an awfully quick reaction.

Okay then. Because in my head it looked like, "Oh, those girls look like they need some money. Marco, wasn't your cousin looking for help at his bakery?"

"I will throw innocent bystanders at you!"

"Holy crap how do we stop this?"

But I assume the cut page fixes that.

Yeah--they basically try to coax our heroines into their car with cocaine. Kara uses her super breath to spill it all inside their car. One of the guys gets mad and tries to slap Kara, which works about as well as you can expect. That's when Kara starts throwing around the car with some of the thugs inside.

What I love best is that she took them out without dropping her ice cream lol.

Also she looks good in the hat... but then it makes me sad. Because she reminds me of Renee... and then it reminds me of Renee and Helena B's friendship :(

That scene with the hat and the ice cream would almost be modcon-worthy if it could be cropped in a way that didn't lead anyone to think ummm....*unfortunate* thoughts. :P

At least my current one is Helena B with the Question's hat on? :P

I think it's generally held that Dick's eating habits when not in direct proximity to Alfred are fairly appalling regardless of his stress levels. Lots of take out food, pizza's, cheese steaks, chinese food. Alfred has been known to tut in a very significant manner when visiting him.

Speaking of Peeg needing a new costume, what do you think of this as a redesign for her?

That looks really good. I'm not terribly crazy about the eyes (seeing the pupils implies mind control instead of heat vision) but the costume is cool. I dig the asymetrical cape (though I want to see the back to see how it "fits") and the higher placement of the hole is reminiscent of her original costume with the low neckline.

I am not a fan of the Super-esque belt buckle (though I guess for this version of her it makes sense) but aside from that, I LOVE it! That is one awesome cape design, and I love the rivet look on her top. :)

The only thing that maaaaaybe I would also change would be to have the cape come down slightly lower over her shoulder so it covers that seam that defines her shoulder...to me, it's one of those little details that draws my attention away from the overall image.

But to reiterate - I love this costume a lot, and it's a very interesting (*good* interesting!) blend of colors for a Superfamily character given that red, gold and white with asymmetrical cape is generally more associated with the Marvel family...

I like it pretty well, overall (the red eye glow doesn't quite look heatvision-y, but the commentary's on the costume not that so much). The high window is of the size and location I tend to picture it being to work properly (this way, it's part of the collar and neckline, not so much a random cutout, and calls back to the scoopneck version of the costume as well), she's got tights under the bodysuit (I never minded the bodysuit shape itself, only that there weren't tights under it), and the asymmetrical cape seems to work (I'd have to see it from the back also to be sure, but it definitely works from the front). This seems to take the main elements from the old, iconic costume, and alter just enough to make it less easy to turn to fanservice.

The story of Helena W. being in "our" world would have been so much better with the pre-reboot Catwoman - you know the one who knew Bruce was Batman and also had a daughter named Helena (who was supposed to be Sam Bradley Jr's kid but I haven't met anyone who really believed that).

That and the whole Wayne-Bertinelli retcon would have worked so much better if it happened during Infinite Crisis. You know, the story that reinstated the existence of the real Earth-2 and gave back Power Girl her real origin?

Don't remind me of how awesome preboot Selina was. They've destroyed everything Brubaker, Cooke and Stewart built up for her.
