Ya, it's been bugging me since this began. AvX without the FF feels weak.

Hm, now that I think about it, Scott and Co could probably claim that the Richards kids are mutants and try to "liberate" them to raise amongst their own kind at this point.

...Come on, it's hardly out of character considering the other things they've done and said.

...You know, it was surprising to see Reed pop up in the preview, but now that you mention it, yeah, we haven't seen ANYONE outside of the Thing, have we? I guess with Reed you could say, "well, he's keeping things more neutral and studying the Phoenix on the down-low. You could say that Johnny, Sue, and the FF were helping people on the first half of the conflict while the two teams were skipping their duties in favor of war, and when the Phoenix Five came into play they all decided to hide until Reed figured out what was going on.

Now that I think about it--considering that Sue is in the original Marvel Now promo, I wonder if she'll play a bigger part in these next few months of the event...

what else bothers me about that is that Franklin (and is Val?) IS a mutant. this effects him as much as anyone else... also Franklin is GOD LEVEL no one feels threatened by him...

there is SO MUCH HERE that bothers me. this is but a SMALL portion of this~

I don't think the world at large knows Franklin got his powers back. Well, after FF #604 maybe, but is that set before or after AvX? LOL TIMELINES.

(Val's not a mutant, though. Just a weirdo super genius.)

I think Val... might grow up to have invisible force fields though? I mean I think Franklin shoved the teenage Val with Doom armor and force fields (Marvel Girl I think she called herself) into Sue's belly a few years back basically. Teenage Val was a result of Franklin saving the baby/soul from miscarriage ages ago and put her in some alternate Earth were a Sue and a Reed-pretending-to-be-Doom raised her. Then again who knows if souls have mutant powers (lets not go into the Scarlet Witch's kids). I don't know. Comics are confusing sometimes.

Different biological parents - teen Val was Sue + Doom. Still, it's possible Val might develop powers in future - Reed examined her at birth and determined she had none, but lol Reed.

I think Sue's rep as a protective mother (and the refeences she could gain from everyone from Doctor Doom down about what a dumb idea it would be to threaten her kids with anything she didn't agree with whilst in the same time zone as her) would give even uber-driven Scott pause before interfering.

Why does AvX effect him? He's a mutant, but he's never been strongly associated with the X-Men. And he's like ten so there is no way in hell Sue would let him into the fight. And no one is worried about his god-like powers because they don't work like phoenix force. He's not at risk for losing control.

I think moments like these is when Bendis' style helps the Avengers. You can use little bursts of interaction like this in-between the standard superhero stuff to make these larger than life characters have more of a humanity to them. I think if Bendis could do more of that superhero action better in-between it, I think he wouldn't have NEAR as much hate poured on him as he does.

I don't know. My biggest beef with Bendis is not his style so much as his utter lack of respect for any characterization or history that doesn't fit into the mold of the story he wants to tell. Sentry and Marvel Boy being prime examples.

So true. I'm all for superheros having normal moments, but after reading some of his runs, especially Moon Knight and his Avengers in general, have killed my opinion of him.

Actually, I thought that was the SMARTEST place to put it. Reasonably secure but still a place that no one will EVER think to look. Frankly I'd like to see more people put dangerous/rare/special objects in safe deposit boxes.

It's probably not a good idea to use the Infinity Gems, if only because they've got a history of not actually accomplishing what their users wanted in the long run. Heck, the only reason they exist is because a god committed suicide when he failed to create life. They've been tainted with failure from the very beginning.

More than just shooting the Hulk into space. Attacking the Skrulls, gathering the Infinity Gems, and telling Noh-Varr to use Mar-Vell as a role model. All those things bit them in the ass, just a long time later.

And not just their asses got bit. Attacking the Skrulls led to Secret Invasion. Gathering the Infinity Gems (somehow) led to the Hood finding them. And Noh-Varr may simply be ill-suited to be a "good guy."

Well, I liked the "Doctor Stark" bit, and the fact that Tony has clearly read the Evil Overlord List (but Wells Fargo? Really?). The actual storyline, though? Do not want.

1. The Illuminati didn’t seem like a bad thing… AT FIRST. When they first appeared in “The Sentry” storyline in New Avengers #7, it looked to be a simple information exchange meeting. Nothing about secretly deciding the fate of the world.
2. The Illuminati one-shot and the miniseries showed what a bad, BAD idea the group is. Mainly because every time they do something, it goes horribly wrong, just not right away. In no particular order: shooting the Hulk into space, gathering the Infinity Gems, attacking the Skrulls, and telling Noh-Varr to use Mar-Vell as a role model. And the Beyonder story was more of a “%#$* Jim Shooter and everything he stands for” story.
3. Captain America wouldn’t like a group like this because Steve Rogers is from the streets. For reals, dawg. .
