And as mentioned, I DO intersect with much of the Journal's thinking on the issue of superheroes. If I go to a macro level, I could go into how they've become a nauseatingly ubiquitous product, a delivery vehicle for marketing campaigns, part of the Hollywood shit machine. (if you got me talking about the Marvel movies...oh boy.) Usually on this site I'm the dude attacking, or was, but after a while I learned to respect how others feel about them here.
Just the same, I'm one of those here who, when I post, try to deal with other genres and kinds of comics. I'm an indie creator and primarily an indie fan. But I have learned to appreciate that the genre, in itself, has some purpose and merit. And so, what good does it have to offer, if any? Does it have a use? If so, what? What is its positive purpose? This is what I'm trying to explore, very specifically, here, and I believe that is what THIS book is doing.
I guess I find it kind of ironic that, once I've learned to meet it a bit halfway because of the discussions I've had here, suddenly I'M the geek. ;) Perhaps I should say more good things about the genre because it might break everyone of it.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
