This annual has nothing to do with the current series. Alan Davis penciled and wrote it, and over all it was just ok, nothing spectacular. The art was good, but the story is apparently a crossover between other annuals concerning the ClanDestine. Though it does standalone, you can tell it's just a randomly slotted puzzle piece to the bigger story.

I love the look and action of these two scenes. Daredevil is chasing after a killer that has been going on a killing spree. And he notices he has a follower...

He's all, 'I'm ready!'. But no ones there. Meanwhile, a little more plot development and the killer (I won't spoil) killing. Daredevil is still playing hide and seek.

Cue the fight heroes always have to have instead of just talking like a regular human. They go into how Daredevil's mind is different from others a couple times because of his origin radar sense and I enjoyed how telepaths have issues with it. He also has an omniscient moment where he knows what the Destine are called that some reason bugged me.

There can never be enough ClanDestine. I'm glad Davis is getting the chance to finally get into who Vincent was.

What's a recoloured version of the Creeper doing in Marvel?

That's Dominic Destine sometimes known as Hex. The hair and skin are their natural shades, but the outfit is because he spent some time as a circus performer (illusions and escapology) and that was his costume. When his much younger siblings Rory and Pandora wanted to become superheroes, he sort of thought "What the hell, could be fun and they need a grown up along", and uses his circus costume as his superhero outfit.

Agreed though, it IS a very Creeper-ish outfit.

Yeah, I liked this issue *a lot*, but I noticed that. It bugged me, as well. And Davis has always struck me as such a meticulous plotter, too...

YAY! More ClanDestine!

I finally was able to get my hands on the collected hardbacks at a con for like 25% of retail.

I REALLY wish he was able to continue the series...but hummm...may need to put this on my pull request. What other annuals are part of the story?

Am I the only one that is painfully bored by ClanDestine popping up mysteriously every few years to get in a confrontation/eventual team-up with Marvel heroes that know nothing about them (which invariably involves some kind of invading demonic evil from another dimension using illusions to trick everyone into fighting), then vanishing without a word of explanation? Davis' art is always beautiful, but it seems like he only has one story to tell and keeps telling it again and again with different sets of Marvel heroes pasted in like cut-outs.

Hasn't that happened only once before this, in the ClanDestine/X-Men mini-series? And that was published over 15 years ago (wow). And while there's otherdimensional evil again this time, it hasn't tricked anyone into fighting. Dominic and Daredevil get into a misunderstanding all on their own.

I might, but beyond 1996's X-Men/ClanDestine two parter I can't actually think of other examples of them doing that.

I recall something similar with Dr. Strange in one of their miniseries (not fighting the Destines, but getting wrapped up in yet another dimensional invasion mess with them), and have a vague impression of something along the same lines in a more recent miniseries. Though since I can't recall any specifics about the latter, perhaps it was a different repeating trope Davis was using in that one.
