Okay... yeah i'd be okay with this :D

Just saw "War Stories" my favorite line in series (not including the movie) Zoe: This is something the Captain has to do himself.
Mal: NO! NO it's not!
Zoe: Oh! *All three proceed to shoot bad guy:)

Dead image, but I think I know what you're talking about, and yes, that would be awesome. :D

...Or not. That is a mild fear of mine, that it does come back, and our expectations are risen so high that it can never be able to satisfy us all. :(

Or is this going to be Guardians of the Galaxy?

Marvel have basically all but announced the guy behind Super, Slither and the writing of Lollipop Chainsaw, James Gunn, will be directing GotG, from what I've read. He's a good fit alongside Whedon, though maybe a little more out there, which makes him a better fit for something like GotG, to me.

Very true and I had seen the all but announced. My original comment was more for how Fire Fly would fit the Guardians more than Avengers 3. = D

Either way, I am looking forward to Guardians and really hope Bug is part of the cast.

I'm holding out for Mantis. And crossing my fingers that they don't go for the inevitable Maggie Q casting choice if they do so.

Nothing wrong with Maggie Q, of course, but she's like an absolutely cliched casting choice for Mantis or even someone like Psylocke. Just like Summer Glau seems, judging from the internet, to be everyone's choice for playing X23. And.. Well, it just wouldn't work, to me. Granted, Maggie Q would bring a bit of star power with her, but I just think that sometimes, the obvious choices aren't the best.

I'm not saying the casting choices there wouldn't work, but it just strikes me that Glau is distinctly too old for X23. But maybe that's just me. I'm also not a huge fan of what some might call the 'obvious' choices. Like.. Well, Robert Downey Jr seems like a natural fit for Tony Stark now, after three films, but I didn't think he was before Iron Man. Or Hemsworth as Thor. Or even Chris Evans (possibly the best known actor as an Avenger besides maybe Johansson), who I couldn't quite see as a Steve Rogers-type. But they proved me wrong. So.. Yeah. I'd like to see more casting in that vein, rather than what feel like obvious choices. Granted, Maggie Q isn't just a Vietnamese ass-kicker, given her heritage, but.. Yeah.

I mean, it's doubtful Mantis would even be in GotG given they seem to be filling their 'one chick per film' quota with Gamorra.

It's not bad. The standard review rates the film a little bit higher than I would, but it's not a bad film. The concept's naturally squicky, but then.. Well, it is what it is. If you're grossed out by stuff like The Thing, that'll gross you out too. But it does have Nathan Fillion for the Whedon crowd.

Personally, I dig the hell out of Slither. It's a throwback to drive-in monster flicks whereby the monster attacks a small town. Tongue is firmly in cheek in the movie.

Never watched Firefly, I might get round to it. But I have this itching feeling that people begging for it's return have turned wanting it's return into a meme of sorts.

When (if) it comes back, there'd probably be alot of confused feelings.

I get the feeling it would inevitably turn into a Family Guy situation where it's not quite as good as it was once fans get it back. Whedon's already walked into the trap of diminishing returns once with Buffy, and there's been such a distance between the original series ending and now that I don't see how it could be the same.

Not saying it couldn't happen, though, but the last thing I'd want for fans of this series is to have to put up with, like, a Star Trek situation, where, what, two out of six films are actually great and the others are just average.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Whedon didn't have more ideas in the Firefly universe to work with - I used the Family Guy example because that basically came back from cancellation based partially on fan demand, and well.. It stunk. Stinks. Family Guy was infinitely better before it was brought back. And now there's been.. What, nearly ten years since the last season of Firefly and the movie? Maybe more? I just don't think it would be entirely what people wanted if Firefly was brought back now.

There's an ongoing joke wherein fans in a parallel dimension lament the suckage of Firefly seasons two and three, and clamor for the return of Heroes after it only got one season.

Oh i get the history of Joss Whedon and Firefly. It just doesn't seem very funny since it's so obvious.

I find it quite comical this has a 'writer' credit when it's like, one of the most obvious jokes possible. All credit to the artists, though, who should probably be working on something better than Gutters.

Why? It's a paying job, there have been a lot of popular industry artists who've done strips and whether or not it's well liked, it is a well known webcomic so it's exposure for their work.

Well, we've gone over how I feel about the quality of Gutters before, so I'm just going to say you've got a point. I might not like it, but.. Well, if it gets the artists some exposure, fair enough.

Will Sliney is a pretty cool guy, I met him at a convention last year. I got some nice art off of him. He was meant to do something to tie in with Spider-Island but Marvel told him that they wanted somebody more well known. It's a shame really, but hopefully Marvel will call him back and put him on a good book.

They do commissioned works, I think, a different artist per page. It pays well, they get exposure, and even get the chance to be paired up with famous writers. Not a bad deal :) Most of these guys aren't all that well known so Gutters is sort of an open attic window in a house full of opportunities.

True enough. I figure I just have a distinct dislike of Gutters, is all. But.. Well, a leg up in the industry is a leg up, as you point out.
