It varies, I tend to default to the Superman I grew up reading, which was the end of the Silver Age take on the character, who was never the most socially gifted person.

Geoff Johns... ever since I discovered/realised his rather gross childhood fangasm acts, I'm kinda irked by him.

I'm not bothered if a comic book writer uses ideas he thought of when he was a kid professionally, so as long as the idea *evolves*, though, he didn't really do that. He's a good writer, but helps DC from moving forward with out there ideas.

Johns and Alex Ross really bugged me when it came to Hal Jordan coming back, because Ross just had this obnoxious 'we won!' quote that came out around the time Rebirth was coming out, and.. Well, it just really showed me that it was two fans getting their way. Not to say nothing good has come out of Johns on Green Lantern - the guy obviously does an incredible Sinestro - but.. Yeah.

I can't help but feel as I do at the moment.

On one hand, I'm glad that DC are taking a more natural route with pairing Superman up with Wonder Woman instead of making another Carlie Cooper. (I mean, hell, they did end up a couple in Kingdom Come).

On the other hand, I still think it was cool to have Clark and Lois married, and I still have my dislike for the fact that DC decided to just toss out decades of character development and continuity in order to "simplify" things - just include a FUCKING recap page in each comic explaining the origin of the character, a few-word description of some of the prominent supporting ones in said issue, and a summary of what happened last time and how it lead there.

Ironically, I'm 19 and only started getting interested in DC with The Dark Knight and Blackest NIght. In other words, I'm probably of their target audience.

I think DC's target audience is maybe four to five years younger than you, to be entirely honest.

As it is, however, I don't think even recap pages make things any easier. No comic I've ever read save perhaps Runaways #1 adheres to the notion Stan Lee laid down that 'every comic is someone's first'. At the same time, should a comic adhere to that? Not necessarily. I think in the age of wikipedia and comms like S_D, people can catch up a hell of a lot easier than they used to. And trade paperbacks and the like are much, much more prevalent than back when Stan was actively involved in the industry.

And as it is, I don't think the reboot was just 'simplification'. I think it is the three of them - Johns, Didio and Lee - leaving their stamp on the company. It's not like COIE or Zero Hour didn't adjust or throw things out, after all, but DC had more of an excuse with the first Crisis, given they had nearly sixty years or stuff going on; At that point, maybe some cleaning house is necessary.

I really can't help but like this. On the one hand, that tired old trope should have me feeling all stabby, but on the other, there are just so many neat elements to it that I can't help but grin. Especially those completely bad ass sunglasses, and the "Any of you guys have a problem with that? Yeah, I didn't think so." attitude.

Okay, I haven't been reading Justice League, but I'm keep hearing that this is logical for both characters, how it can be really interesting ect. Not that I disagree, but I have to ask: how many times in NDCU have they even talked to each other so far? Was there any build-up to this? Have they showed having feelings for each other?
