Batman Meets His Inspiration
Aug. 26th, 2012 01:28 pm This story comes from the Bruce Wayne: Fugitive event, after Bruce had escaped from Blackgate after being framed for the murder of an ex-girlfriend, and has decided to be Batman 100% of the time without having to bother being Bruce anymore. This causes the Batdick behaviour people have accused him of to reach boiling point, to the point where he won't even talk to Selina or his other friends anymore.
After much prodding from Dr Leslie Thompkins though, he finally visits her, and she informs him that a certain detective is dying and has asked to see him. Why should Bruce care about this detective you may ask? Well...

Batman arrives in the detective room, and he begins to explain the impact that Batman had not just on him, but also the GCPD and Gotham as a whole as well...

The case that Sloan wants Batman to solve is the death of the Waynes. He hands over all the paperwork that he has avaliable and explains to Batman that he'd made a promise to Bruce at his parents' funeral that he'd catch their killer, but now that he's dying he doesn't want to let him down. He explains that despite what the current GCPD and seemingly the whole world at large seems to think, he doesn't actually think that Bruce killed the woman he's been accused of murdered.

With this new perspective on himself, Bruce decides that he owes it to Sloan's faith in him to publically prove that he isn't a murderer, proving that the detective was right. So he calls up Oracle for help proving his innocence, which shocks her considering his previous attitude to the subject, and thus begins the warming up of Bruce's character once again (until Identity Crisis set him back into the Angry Jerk zone once again).
Okey, what would people like me to post next?
- Witchfinder
- Devil's Advocate
- Punisher: Born
- The Kents
- Gotham Central
And if people are interested, I talk about how police corruption is dealt with in Batman comics such as Gotham Central and the like,

Didn't he also pass as a black janitor once, around No Man's Land, in one of those gazillion side-books?

Date: 2012-08-27 04:42 am (UTC)Bruce is at his most Batjerkiness when other people don't live up to his standards. This is why he lodged a batarang in Jason Todd's jugular to save the Joker's life. This is why he created Brother Eye after Zatana's memory spell just stopped working on him. This is why he got mad at Wonder Woman for killing Maxwell Lord so Max wouldn't use Superman to kill people.
