It was a pitch by Chris Ryall of IDW and Phil Jiminez to DC Comics. Sadly it happened just before the New 52 relaunch and was sidelined. Phil credits Chris with the idea of making Optimus Prime a Green Lantern.

It also strikes me: It would mean that IDW Transformers would've crossed over with both DC and Marvel, as well as having been part of the Infestation event (where the enemy shows up in Transformers, Star Trek, GI Joe, and Ghostbusters).

Man, tracking down all the best RPG.net motivation thread posters has been hard. I saved that one a long time ago, but the supposed archives some people threw together are filled with "Mr. Welch is not allowed to..." and fandom junk that misses the original motivation theme.

It's Corps, people. "Corp" is short for corporation, "corps" refers to a body of men (or reasonable equivalents). The green of the Green Lanterns is not meant to represent US currency.

This. I'm usually not against crossovers, but Avengers/Transformers wasn't brilliant, really. This would at least be pleasant to look at, given it's Jiminez, but.. Yeah. I don't see the Nu52 having massively impacted the decision on DC's behalf here; They probably thought Marvel would just be dickish about it and say 'we did it first', and even though it's the most common thing in the industry, no-one likes to be exposed when they're bandwagoning.

I'm not sure this not happening was necessarily due to the New 52. I mean, DC was willing to do that Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes series -- and the DC Universe in that story was obviously meant to be the pre-Flashpoint one -- and that began one month after the New 52 started.

There are probably larger reasons at work for this not happening. One might consider that Transformers are generally more connected to Marvel in the comics as one...

...or the fact that Hasbro, owner of Transformers, also has the license for Marvel toys now, and even makes Marvel Transformers crossover toys.

Seems those would be greater contributing factors than New 52 or "don' wanna."
