Briggs 'cured' them - in Mettle's case, via a mix of healing tanks and nanotech,so that he didn't drop dead when his powers were cancelled.
Unfortunately, Briggs also seems to be a villain with world domination powers, so they took the 'antidote' to help stop him (and save Striker, who ended up confronting him alone...).
I'll say they were blinded by wanting themselves cured so badly :/ Plus with all the BS they'd been going through with the Avengers and the X-men, they were pretty much ready to find other ways to get what they needed/wanted.
They did deal with that, though; The guy's an obvious villain and Finesse even points this out. I don't have the trade on hand, but I'm sure they mention handling him at another time, since Pym's aware of him, but also aware of the amount of trouble he could cause if they confronted him directly.
So I heard, but it won't be Gage on writing (he has no projects lined up at Marvel for the foreseeable future), there aren't a lot of writers I trust at Marvel right now, and it probably will not be the intact team. The book and dynamics I like will be caput.
I can think of a couple of concepts I'd go for with the AA kids, but I somehow doubt Marvel will be going to either.
also i had a theory... i am curious to see if i am right...
Briggs' plan is to depower the heroes and leave a select few with powers...
The Avengers students have spent most of the issues teaming up and befriending other teams of teen/kid heroes... my theory is that these other teams will play into them stopping Briggs?
