Most of DC's character look like they went in the future--And yes I'm talking to you tron suit-- just to pick a costume and come back in the present day to wear them. What I want to say is...why DC don't say to the artist ho design character to put some(a lot of) things from the old DC.

Here a design of Stargirl by Booth (I hate this staff, sooooo futuristic). DC didn't use by the way Brett said in his blog "This was my redesign for Stargirl, Geoff is partial to her old design so they didn't use it. "

And okay I admit it I kinda like that costume.

I wondering how Starman will look like. PLEASE KEEP THE OLD COSTUME! PLEASE!

There's two other design for Superman Annual. The woman who beat up Martian Manhunter and the man who fight Kori.

Definitely establishing the DCnU as having it's own look.

Which, btw, I'm fine with- means they can bring back the old DC and do 'em side-by-side without much confusion since everyone looks different.

They look like Wildcat rejects. And I'm not talking Wildcat 3.0, I'm talking 90s Extreme Wildcats.

That's not really surprising, though, given that they're daemonites, right?

I'm just as glad they're not going with this Stargirl look; it's very fussy.

One of the most common complaints about the look of the DCnU

That staff looks pretty close to Jack Knight's model; it might be more retro than futuristic. (Or, at least, an intentionally retro image of futuristic.)

Bloody fanboy. You have power at DC, be a forward thinker and evolve your universe a little.

"Updating" pretty much every single other character's costume wasn't enough?

Yeah, but all the costume designs have been really, really bad.

If you think thats evolving a universe, then no.

All his creative decisions have been throwbacks to earlier times or just not in a helpful or thought out direction, he needs to work on that.

"If you think thats evolving a universe, then no."

If you don't feel it is, then why does it matter if Stargirl's costume remains the same or not?

Because I'm talking about his wider attitude of keeping things the way he wanted them as a child, only working with ideas he had as a fanboy. Evolve the universe, not just the easy parts, the stories, the characters, the concepts things he's simply not doing well enough.

And I wish more creators (that is..those still alive...) would do the same for their own characters!
I barely recognize any of the characters... *continues buying trades of the old DCU/ordering old issues off ebay*

I can however, appreciate his introduction of the new Green Lantern Baz.

Now if only we could have a female Green Lantern from earth...

Female and non-American. Four GL's from Earth, and they all have penises and US passports.

Yeah. They're really overdoing the whole "modernized" costume for these old comic book characters-thing. Waaaay too complicated and random.

Why are the DCnu costumes so... fussy and over-detailed? Some artists can make them work, but then we also get things like Superboy's semi-sentient Tron-lines. Blerg.

Honestly, I'm quite liking some of the costume ideas/designs. Some of them, like Supes, I'm not too big on, but I like the choice to give some of them 'armoured' looks. I don't particularly like the very 90s designs of some, but I do proffer heroes who wear practical looking uniforms, you know, that cover most of their body, are actually protective, and serve more use than just being pretty. Guys like Bruce and co, who are the poster children of gadget using crazy paranoid guys, would make more sense wearing suits with armour rather than walking around in simple rubber suits.

It looks like DCnU is getting it's own distinst look, it's just too bad that look is 90's EXXXXXXXTREME and LINES! LINES LINEEEEEEEES EVERYWHERE!!!

I mean, seriously, that Stargirl design is just bad from a very, very basic design sense. Like, not even a how "How are you a professional artist" but "Maybe you should go back to art school where they teach you not to do things like this within the first week"

I keep getting the feeling every statement of DCnU should have the subtitle, "MOTHAHFUCKIN' SHOULDER PADS!". Because THAT's what the average comic book reader was missing, right?
