Well, it all seems to be coming together, and here we see why Fraction's been labeled a good writer and why Larroca is suddenly the perfect artist for this series.

We last left Tony planning his escape and subsequent counter-attack on the Mandarin.

In this issue, he collects his army. Namely, Living Laser, Whirlwind, and Blizzard.

And of course, Stane.

But then that's not enough to beat Mandarin's "kingdom". So...


Now we know what the SWARM was for!




I know a lot of people hate Larroca's art, but look at that spread. Just look at it.

He may not do humans well, but that's why he's drawing for the Invincible Iron Man. D'Armata's colors don't hurt, either.

Iron Man as tokusatsu fits, oddly enough. J.A.R.V.I.S. probably counts as a mascot character, right?

I personally wish things worked out better between Toei and Marvel (or barring that Disney held onto the Power Rangers license after they bought Marvel) so we could get modern Toku based on Western heroes like SpuidaMan.

I think it's debatable whether Larocca 'does humans well'. I think he occasionally relies a little too much on his photoreferencing, but otherwise, I think he's solid, and thanks to his linework and colouring, it doesn't just look like Land's work.. Where.. Well. That speaks for itself, and is the reason I won't be buying Iron Man when it's relaunched.

Also, am I the only one really amused by the fact that this feels far more epic and really rather exciting than any amount of Fear Itself/AvX bullshit?

Actually, I've been enjoying the hell out of AvX, so I have to disagree there.
