Scarlet Spider #9

Not much really happens in this issue that further expands upon character development, so I'll begin this by saying that the fight against Mammon continues on in this issue.





Exposition reveals Roxxon was drilling for oil and came across a strange energy reading that was self-sustaining. Naturally, the CEO wanted it dug up, which is what throws everything here into play. The Texas Rangers team up with Kaine and they try to keep the creature, which has been dubbed Mammon, from trying to wreak havoc across the greater Gulf area.

Mammon jumps people and possesses the CEO of Roxxon, who continues the rampage, and Scarlet takes it upon himself to lead the creature away from where it can damage other things.



Anyway, Kaine manages to save the day, the CEO ends up comatose, and the Rangers try and recruit Kaine, who responds with a resounding "SCREW YOU!" He doesn't like other superheroes and sticks to his guns about it. The Rangers tell him Houston is his responsibility now and Kaine snarks off into the sunset.

Then this happens.

also... i can't help but wonder if somewhere on the internet, there are people who draw "Scarlet" as "Miz Scarlet" :D

Good to see that this has continued being fantastic.
Less good to see that the daughter is following a predictable character arc.
Them's the breaks I guess.

Well she was already fruit loops *before* all this, can't expect her to suddenly sane up.
