And frankly I'm not sure who I'm supposed to be rooting for here. Helena is coming off very holier than thou, going on about how this kid is using "her" colors and seems to have fallen into the standard alt. universe story trap of deciding that this new Earth must be shit compared to her own. And Damian is Damian, his default state is to be unlikable.

If you found out that your counterpart in this dimension was essentially Damian Wayne, wouldn't you have a bit of a sour opinion of the new digs you find yourself in? :)

I dunno, I find it normal that she calls it "hers" if they were originally hers, same as Dick calling the Robin colors his or Babs calling the Batgirl suit hers too.

Depending on whose writing, Talia and Bruce were married when Damian was conceived.

Plus since she's of the Al Ghul line of attempted World Conquerers and his dad is basically American nobility, he pretty much sees himself as being loyalty anyways. So by definition, ANY woman who isn't his mother would be lesser than her.

I think I remember Damian not reacting well to meeting Selina, seeing her as being a woman his dad is having an affair with or something.

I'm about ready to see Damian punted off into the sun, to be entirely honest. It's like even under Morrison, the little brat's lost anything that made him remotely appealing as Batman and Robin drew to a close.

I started to like him a little when he was paired off with Dick-as-Batman--he actually showed some signs of character growth and emotional vulnerability. Now that Bruce is back Damien's "pompous little shit" mode seems to be stuck in overdrive, and it's boring and disappointing.

Based on these scans? Not really seeing it myself. (My ogling is reserved for Robin's of significantly more mature years than Damian, but I think I'd spot it if it were there)

The last page makes up for what is otherwise, a somewhat lackluster selection of art.

I honestly don't understand why people even bother to get irritated by Damian anymore. I mean he's so over the top that it's hard to take seriously.

But, then again, this is coming from someone who likes Damian. I just don't like how all forward progression on his character seems to have halted or been undone completely since the Nu-52. I've stopped buying the new comics by and large, but it seems like they've dropped what makes Damian sympathetic as a character. If his whole schtick was about proving himself, and proving his worth to his absent (or distant) father, then now that he's his father's Robin, we should be seeing some kind of progress, somewhere.

Those scenes from Red Robin with Dick/Damian will remain some of my favorites, because (for me at least) they did a good job of summing up what Damian's deal is. Yes, he was an ass to Tim (who will remain my favorite Robin, ever ever), and his actions aren't excused because of his anger and fears, but they're at least in some way understandable. The arrogance was his protective casing. Now, in the Nu-52 (and again, I could be wrong, I haven't been reading B&R consistently), it seems like the writers have reduced the arrogance to being all Damian is about. And, again, the things he says don't irritate me because they're so ridiculous, but they also don't make my sympathetic to the character.

Of course, if they're using this complete immobility of his arrogance as a comment about how he and Bruce really don't work as a team, I'll buy that. I will never not be bitter about them breaking Dick/Damian up as a team, because I think that Damian needed someone like Dick to ground him. And if the Robin position is now just an "internship" as Didio claims, then please, just shunt Damian sideways so that "Nightwing and Robin" can have their day, and Bruce can work with Tim.

I guess I can dream.

Actually batman and robin has had him show a lot of growth in my opinion (i am a few weeks behind though so...)

kinda a little annoyed at both of them, they are both coming off a little arrogant, on Damian it's kinda to be expected (when some one who has not noticed, or remembers his character development) Helena... to be honest i don't know WHAT Levits is doing with Helena and Power Girl...

well maybe arrogant isn't the right word... but they don't come off really nice. i mean i get the whole "I wore those colors first." but if she has been summing up his abilities and sees his different skill like he has, then she should know a majority of his training did not come from Batman which means that her whole "What is wrong with this world's batman..." seem.... ugh i didn't like it... she knows, as far as i know, nothing about him.

there are times when he does them really well... and then there are times where it's just like... wHaT?

So we got the fight out of the way, and though I am really....really irritated that they make the reveal a cliffhanger...I look forward to big sister/little brother time.

This (minus the beating) would have worked so much better for me (from Damien's POV) if this had taken place pre-reboot and it had been (now non-existent) little Helena Kyle. Because I can totally see him reacting that way.

With an Earth-2 Helena Wayne who is basically a brand-new character (she's much different than Levitz's pre-Crisis Helena) it just doesn't have the same impact.

I really think this version of PG and Huntress would have worked so much better if they had kept both of them on Earth-2 and not have them be world-tossed (not that that plot point seems to be getting any traction).
