Four pages from DIAL H #7...





Nelson and Roxie are globe-trotting in search of another Dial, which sources say exists. Finally, they decide to inquire from a Paris-based cult that worships the Dials.



The cultist gives them the location as he understands it be: Deep beneath the waves, in the ruins of an outpost that belonged to Atlantis. That means they'll need to dial up a hero that can breathe underwater.

Interesting that the cops France seem to have some sort of High-tech handcuffs even for what don't seem to be especially super criminals.

This whole thing is reminiscent of Odd Omens

"through the icy waters it picks up the microwave noise of the sea, the sorrowing beeps and whistles of the whalesong" now if you replace Sushi with plankton you get Ten billion [plankton] dinners cry out for vengeance."

More than that- one of the things Manteau is really worried about is having her identity submerged in one of the dials- (that's why the cloud of plankton is wearing a mask) and now she's lost control in one of the least human forms we've seen.

Yeah, kinda obvious you're supposed to be horrified by Manteau's losing control

We'll probably see Manteau being similarly aggrieved, considering she was a flower child living in a hippie commune in the 60's.

A likeable as he is, Nelson's more likely to be the kind of jerk who'd guffaw at punching a whale in the face.

Didn't get a killing vibe, just a punching/circle of life running in reverse for a few seconds sort of a vibe.

It says "you will sing NO MORE!" I may be wrong (I certainly hope so), but it sounds pretty definitive to me.

It's still much more tolerable fiction that what the Japan/Norway aligned countries in the International Whaling Commission are spouting. Yes, those countries that are against commercial whaling really should be thrown off the commission since they're the ones that are counter to the whole idea behind it.
