I love how all in the same year we get Ares in so many flavors. Battle-crazed, troll/rules-lawyer, fussing over his pets, belligerent sexual tension with Carol ("That is not how a man acts. I mean, yes, he's dead. But that tends to be temporary when his family's concerned and I really want to read what he does next. His death didn't feel like the end of the story (and nor did the Chaos War special).

I also think her reaction is realistic in a world of perfectly-shaped goddesses and exotic aliens. Being a normal woman in the DCU must be so hard on women's self-esteem. Forget emulating models and actresses, you're competing with goddesses!

Except Lois has never shown that degree of self doubt, and even then SHE is the one who Superman married, not Diana.

Plus she's spent time with Diana and quite likes her as a person, and she knows that Clark would be faithful to her forever.

No idea, but since Lois refers to him as "husband", this is old continuity.

... what realistic human doesn't show self-doubt, especially in the privacy of their bathroom? I can't help but cringe at the possibility of someone being completely self-actualised all the time.

Plus you can like someone still roll your eyes at them every now and again.

I think the most realistic characters are the ones who have personality traits that define them, but at the same time, don't hold up in every, single, situation. Unfortunately most characters in comics are the opposite of that, or rather, fans think that since 'Character 1' is brave, they can never be scared of something.

I agree but then again Lois herself is usually depicted as impossibly pretty even by "normal" DC standards. When artists like Benes draw her she had the face and figure of a super-model. You actually have to think hard to think of a DC heroine or signifigant other who looked like she couldn't be on Vogue or Cosmo. Particularly post-reboot when even Amanda Waller got the trim and young treatment? Ellen Baker, perhaps?

Hercules and Ares are basically the best. I wish we saw more of both of them.

I loved everything about the Incredible Hercules series. It was one of the best modernizations of the old myths. I wish we saw more of Amadeus Cho too. He's probably my favorite (relatively) new marvel character
