You think he would be trying a little harder to hide the fact he's not the same guy so, you know, the collective heroes of the Marvel universe don't catch on and come after him.
To my knowledge, yes. The whole issue was leaked over the weekend, and while I've abstained from actually reading it, I have seen the spoilers. So yeah, the Superior Spider-Man is who you think it is. Also, deleting my initial reply to you, it's a bit spoiler-y.
Pretty much. And based on some of the other previews they've been putting out, I don't see it lasting long as a status quo at all, given Superior Spidey's apparently intent on beating the shit out of everyone he comes across.
Definitely--I've seen a fair amount of people genuinely pissed and saddened that they're doing this, and I can't help but think, "...You guys do know how superhero comics work, right? He'll be back in a year, tops."
That way Marvel can publish a new Amazing Spider-Man #1 when the Amazing Spider-Man 2 film comes out in May 2014. And odds are we'll see it with a big Electro story (and maybe even get a new Electro who looks like Jamie Foxx.)
Well it's obvious he'll be back eventually, this would be a fundamentally unsustainable status quo, but that doesn't change the fact that it kind of sucks. I mean, I don't think anyone can be expected to be happy about the fact that we can basically write off one of our favorite characters for a couple years.
Crushing ON him... he'll send little poems, and stare longingly at his posters of him, and then practice writing out "Mr and Mr Parker-Murdock" in his exercise book at school.
Oh man, I know it's not out yet, but this makes it pretty clear, so can we start talking about the whole Superior Spider-Man thing yet? Because I've some pretty strong opinions.
That ending is good though, as much as I genuinely dislike Superior Spider-Man, this at least makes it kind of amusing. Kind of wondering what's gonna happen next issue. I mean, it seems like Matt could figure out what's up with Spidey fairly quickly, in which case, what happens then?
Is there a code maybe people who read of the spoiler can use to talk in places so those unspoilt wouldn't be spoilt by it?
Either way, I've gotten pretty pessimistic about the oncoming events, now, that I read about the leaked info... ...Unless, it turns out that the bit leaked, as from what I've heard only a few pages supposedly taken from the back, is actually not the end of the issue, but rather near the front or middle, and it ends differently. In which case, I'm still confused and mildly interested in seeing resolution.
If not, then the cover of the second issue is now, officially, messed up on so many levels. Well, many more levels then it already was.
Edit: About Matt maybe catching on, that might lead to some kind of dynamic until its resolved. Like, Matt knows who really is, but Supe!Spidey uses his unique placement to convince the others that Mat's a liar/crazy person, making them believe him over Matt.
Oh yeah, that cover is now just deeply, deeply, unpleasant. I've only seen those back pages too, but what I've heard is that the whole issue was leaked, so I guess the hope I was holding out that it was really just an elaborate red herring seems to have been quashed. If this is genuinely the status quo though, I'm with you, I hope it gets changed as soon as possible, because it is genuinely terrible on several levels.
Huh, well, if that's the case then I'll need to dedicate my next open weekend to banging my head against my wall over and over until the brain damage and blood loss makes things look good again. I can't see it lasting too long. Either it will be planned to be a fake out, like with killing Kingsley, that gets resolved in a better place near the first arc, or the title will get cancelled because, honestly, nobody would want that as a permanent status quo, and I doubt that sales will be fantastic enough to keep it going. Plus, they've got another film coming out in a year or so, they'll need to bring real Peter back in time for that.
Much like our rules about the posting of pages from "leaked" issues, we'd appreciate the discussion of unreleased comics be limited to what is shown in formally released previews until such time as the comic is actually published and everyone has had a (notional at least) chance to buy it. It's the only fair way to do it.
After it has been released, and provided you're discussing it in a suitable thread (So you don't spoil a major plot of comic A in a posting about comic B, which tends to annoy people), then discuss away to your heart's content.
Wow. That got leaked really early then, didn't it? I wonder who up at Marvel goofed there and/or if it was intentional given they might be worried not many people'll be coming out on that day for new books.
Well, I remember hearing that the stuff that's coming in at around Christmas week--ASM #700, Avenging #15.1, Aquaman/Justice League #15, and I think Mara #1--were delivered to LCS's this week to avoid delays, and some LCS's were confused and didn't know they were supposed to hold them for that week, and some probably didn't really care.
