Cap proposes they re-assemble the Infinity Gauntlet. That should be powerful enough to solve the problem, whatever the cause is. They already have five of the Infinity Gems. The only one they're missing is the Mind Gem, whose secret location died with Charles Xavier, so they make plans to find it.
It's funny, when my friends and I all read this we all had the same reaction — "This is why Cap shouldn't be in the Illuminati! He always stops the story before it gets interesting!"
Actually really liked this issue, way more then issue one. Although it showed some more problems in issue 1, didn't realized they captured Black Swan from reading the first issue.
My favorite part was the scene right after Cap's heroic speech which I won't spoil.
There's something about stories about facing the end of the world, moral dilemmas, and the choices we make when the stakes are the highest that I like.
I love, love, love that no one in the room is impressed at all with Cap's speech. Cap is the only "non-practical" person at the table and you know its just a matter of time before they mindwipe him and kick him out.
Wow. That theory of how the multiverse works, and how someone/something could manipulate it, is a really neat and logical idea. This is a really freaking sweet premise!
... The same thing I said about Civil War and AvX, so I now I have no faith in Marvel executing it properly. Oh well.
The Space one alone should be able to do it I think, though the extent to which the Power gem features in the use of any Infinity gem action is one I don't think has ever been made terribly clear.
Black Panther's mask has glowing eyes? Weird. Also, it's kind of funny how this book could not sound more like something Hickman would write. Morally ambiguous conspiracies made up of prominent (At least in-universe) figures, infographics, superscience, ingroup fighting, it's got it all.
Cap is saying "Every time you try any 'necessary evil' crap, it NEVER works and ALWAYS bites the rest of us in the ass." And I agree. Almost every Illuminati story is about how the Illuminati keep screwing up.
For that matter, Dr. Strange is among them and knows where the frickin' soul gem is, so Xavier being dead isn't really that big a barrier to asking him where he stashed it.
I wonder if we are looking at 616's Heroes here...
Also if the Earth is terribly threated in this way you'd think they might call in people with experiance with Alternative Realities like Captain Britain for example.
Finally, if its really that bad what about asking a few of the 'big brain' villians for help? I'm sure Doom, Thinker etc would rather not be flatlined.
And finally 2- I bet they are wishing the Molecule Man was still around to fix this!
