Yeah--Asrar's been great with Kara herself, but I've noticed that when he's drawing other characters, it can look wonky. Hell, Superman the past few issues he's been in he looked gangly.
See, Kara acting this way I can get--the girl's lived on Earth for what, maybe half a month? Of course the idea of going home would still be very, VERY tempting to her.
Sure, he's a stranger, but he's a stranger who speaks the way she speaks, who remembers her homeworld the way she does, who shares her desire to go back to her homeworld...
Well, he can certainly make people see things differently--he thrashed Supergirl but she saw H'El as Superman. I don't think I've seen anything that says mind control, but I wouldn't be surprised, either.
On one hand, that was all pretty cool fight stuff.
On the other, I can't help but feel that at the very least Kara would be a little less gun-ho if Barry just flat out said, "What H'El's going to do will kill everyone on this planet."
Yes, I've been wondering why he doesn't he just say "H'els plan will destroy Earth!" rather than "We're you're friends". I think Flash comes across as seriously stupid for not, you know, saying WHAT is wrong with H'el. Going on and on about how he's bad and not saying why isn't very convincing, is it?
I don't blame Barry, though--clearly he was beaten with the Stupid Stick pre-issue to keep the plot going. I think he could have done that and still keep her in the position for Supes to truly convince her/have H'El show his true colors, but they chose to go that direction.
Unless you're tied to a blimp next to someone who is definitely NOT the Golden Age Black Canary with the gas-bag situated just behind your head. Then they're decorative AND functional.
I hate how DC deliberately baits fans of some characters though. I've sat through way too many panels where the creators seemed both amused and dismissive of the inevitable "where's Wally?" question.
We'll see what (if anything) DC says at WonderCon this year. This'll be the first year I get to go to both SDCC and WonderCon in the same year.
As do we all. I like Barry s a character, he's the Flash who's easy to identify with, but Wally, I just grew up with Wally and he appeals to my taste in characters. And, you know, defines everything about the Flash. Pretty much every major aspect of the Flash is derived from Wally, or is better associated with Wally. Hell, Barry's costume nowadays is actually Wally's costume that he stole for some reason and added some extra detail. I don't get why every artist decided to use Wally's costume for Barry, but they all seem to do that.
While being banned to the Darkness Beyond Time would fill me with horror if it came to anyone else, the thought of Barry being confined there fills me with mad glee.
I'm pleased to see that the Flash didn't get jobbed here, I always hate when that happens. I really don't care for this Supergirl though, her motivations and actions make sense, but as a reader I know for a fact that the Flash, Superman, and all the rest are the good guys and there's no way Krypton can really be brought back permanently, so whenever Supergirl attacks someone or refuses to accept that Krypton is gone I just wind up rolling my eyes and thinking that Supergirl is an asshole. And H'el is pretty weak. Visually bleh, and his whole stated goal with Krypton leaves me cold. I generally don't care about Krypton at all, so any story centering on it is fighting an uphill battle for my interest. I'm glad this crossover doesn't extend into Action Comics, that book is flawed, but at least I don't sigh in exasperation when I read it.
I'm all for Flash awesomeness, but his arm cyclones got a serious upgrade if they can throw a Kryptonian around like that. Best prior feat I can recall was three Flashes braking a freight train that way.
I can't see Barry using wind to move her in any one particular direction if she's braced or flying against it, but spinning and buffeting her from all sides might be another matter. She's only going to weigh as much as a regular human being of her build, so until she can bring her powers to bear she should react to applied force the same way that the latter would. (I recall seeing someone like Batman fling Superman around with judo - of course it's not going to be able to hurt him, but he's not an immovable object unless he's trying to be.)
