Injustice: Gods Among Us #12
Apr. 2nd, 2013 01:34 amLast issue Wonder Woman provoke a fight with Aquaman. Which Aquaman uses his ultimate weapon the Kraken to fight the Justice League Of America.
Superman arrives soon after and severely injure the Kraken (bursts through one of his legs) but then afterwards deliver his threat directly to Aquaman. Mildly under Batman’s counsel to not make Superman more angry and worsen his state of mind. Aquaman reluctantly calls off his equivalent of a nuclear weapon, but instead delivers a more direct threat to the world to Superman.
Aquaman reminds Superman that the kingdom of the ocean is far larger than that of land, and that the land merely exists because Aquaman wills it. It’s delightfully egotistical but his assessment of Superman is far more to the point. This is the first time a character has come out and accused Superman of seeking to rule over the world. Naturally, Superman denies it, merely suggesting he is calling for a ceasefire and that is all. Aquaman responds telling him that his reign has already begun.

Superman has made it very clear that his primary goal is for world peace. Not a little bit of peace but actual, all-encompassing peace by any means necessary. Aquaman’s threat was one threat too many, and if Aquaman called forth the nuke of the oceans, then Superman will also effectively flexed his muscle in the most visual and extreme manner to show a ultimatum against Aquaman.

I'm loving this comic. It's the greatest, most glorious trainwreck imaginable.

Date: 2013-04-03 04:54 am (UTC)I also notice that Diana didn't actually answer Arthur's question.

Date: 2013-04-03 10:41 am (UTC)It is almost worth it to see Superman pick up an entire city and drop it in the desert just as a big middle finger to Aquaman. I haven't stopped giggling since I opened this page.

Date: 2013-04-03 01:34 pm (UTC)Getting annoyed at Superman and Wonder Woman sliding down the road to evil on the path of good intentions is like getting annoyed at the idea of the Justice Lords, and there the major thing that triggered Superman going into "Rarr! I'll enslave the world to keep them safe!" mode was Lex Luthor killing Wally West (while attempting to trigger a nuclear war).
In comparison, what Superman has endured thus far (wife, kid, most of his civilian friends and home city destroyed and his parents kidnapped), and his reaction to it, is if anymore more REASONABLE than the DCAU counterpart.
This doesn't excuse it, but getting in a huff about how Superman etc. wouldn't act like this is like getting annoyed that the Soviet Superman in Red Son is more dictatorial than the regular one, despite him growing up in the height of the USSR and being taken under Stalin's wing as soon as he went public.

It's almost like this version of Clark should be played by Tommy Wiseau, complete with 'How duhr yew tahk to mee like that!' accent, he's that stupid and irrational.
