Part 3: Ghana 1975



No I so didn't forget this series, and I was biding my time waiting for #5 to finally come out to showcase how EPIC and awesome this mini-series was. This truly was the best Godzilla story IDW has put out.

So picking up another ten years after the events of #2, we found out what the device actually is and the inventor of it:







It isn't long before the AMF realize where Deverich has the device planted. But none of the vehicles they have at their disposable is fast enough or agile enough to get past the vast number of Kaiju. Well save one:









Yeah I cannot help but just showcase the scene stealers of this issue, the AMF team that watches Mothra. There's a couple more gorgeous splash pages I couldn't put in this cut, since it was either them or the Mothra Hippies. I chose the Mothra Hippies man. Anyway, back to the story the AMF find Deverich, but not without suffering a great loss.

Who bought it? I'm not gonna spoil it. Just that the loss greatly effects Ota's actions in #4. Speaking of #4 I'll post that in a few hours.

Me too. I wish IDW or Toho would let Stokoe make prints off some of the pages in this series. They're just so darn beautiful.

This reminds me though, has anyone else seen that Spider-'Nam comic Stokoe posted online? That thing was fantastic.

I'm a big fan of Stokoe from Orc Stain, and although I wish he'd get back on that full-time, this is pretty sweet. (Stokoe seems to reference Vietnam pretty frequently in his work, as there are some in OS as well.) Anyone else catch the "Deverich" reference?

Hahahahaha! I LOVE the blatant jab at the creators of the crappy American 'Godzilla' movie with 'Doctor Deverich'. Splendid stuff. This is just.. This is the kind of thing I'd really hoped to see when it came to IDW getting the Godzilla license.
