Puss In Boots by Kate Ashwin
Jun. 12th, 2013 07:06 pmKate Ashwin, creator of the now-finished Darken and the ongoing (excellent) Widdershins, has something a bit special up on her site right now: her version of the fairy tale Puss In Boots. It will run until 3 July only, and then be taken down, since it's recently been published in this excellent anthology.

...and a few pages later we meet the Princess, who is utterly marvellous:

Of Ashwin's other comics, I found Darken quite charming: it's essentially a D&D-style adventure with an all-evil party of adventurers. The characters are fun and there are some great moments, though it's very much an apprentice piece. Widdershins, however, is astounding and highly recommended: The world-building, characterisation, scripting and art are all top-notch. I can also confirm, having met Ashwin at the odd few UK comics events over the years, that she is a lovely person. Go read!
