Some pages from last month's TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE #17, in which we get some interesting takes on robot "biology" and "birth."

Tailgate has just discovered he's dying. He has 3 days, 10 hours, 29 minutes, and 15 seconds left to live. (A quirk of Tranformers "biology" is that, under the right circumstances, a dying Transformer can measure how fast he's fading and from there calculate exactly how long he has left, like your laptop battery telling how much longer it can run.)







Meanwhile, elsewhere aboard the Lost Light, life continues uninterrupted for the rest of the crew. Searching through outer space for their missing second-in-command Ultra Magnus, their trail leads them to a giant wormhole:



On the other side, they discover Luna-1, Cybertron's mythical first moon, which legend says used to orbit their planet millennia ago before mysteriously vanishing.







Cyclonus's request is that Tailgate can come along too (presumably so that he can have one last great adventure before he passes away).








And I normally don't post pages just because of the art, but this one sure is pretty. While Rodimus is leading his away team, back aboard the Lost Light there's an intruder problem.

Indeed, Cyclonus seem more upset about this than I think we've ever seen him before.

I think it is because he realises how his attitude/actions of the lone wolf is affecting Tailpipe who is only trying to reach out to him.

Well they don't poop mainly because they use up the Energon completely in their bodies removing the need to do that.

As for reproduction in G2 they could split, however after several thousand years of doing that the Swarm was also created. In G1, most new Transformers were made by Vector Sigma or the Creation Matrix. There have been a few other methods as well.

That's a bit contrary to physics as we presently understand it; whatever they're consuming, they can't be converting it to energy, or they wouldn't need as much of it as they've been shown to use. Most likely, the waste product is heat, rather than anything like human excreta.

Huh. One of their own dying of old age when that wasn't previously thought possible would have huge, society-wide ramifications, I should think. I hope that'll get followed up on.
