Ultraman hating the touch of the sun. That's new, right? I can't decide if I like it or not.
On the other hand, silly and cheesy and fan-bating as it is, I do sort of like Lex Luthor realizing, if only for a moment, how much he actually depends on Superman to stop this sort of thing. It's a nice touch.
ALTHOUGH it IS reminicent of Nuclear Man from Superman IV (though in reverse. Blocking out the sun (with the moon no less) nullifies his powers. In this case, since superman gets his powers from the sun, the opposite would be Ultraman getting his powers from darkness.
I cant help but feel the action from ultraman is meant as a throw back to SMIV
If I recall, we never see the Anti-Matter Ultraman in Morrison/Quietly's "Earth 2" during the daytime - he always appears at night or hovers on the periphery laser-blasting people, and everyone's startled/terrified when they see Superman disguised as Anti-Matter Lt. Clark Kent in broad daylight.
Hm, in Final Crisis he DID become a kinda of weird metatextual vampire. Though that would mean that someone actually bothered to remember what happened in Final Crisis.
The vampire thing in FC to me was what wrecked it. I honestly had NO idea wtf that was even doing there. I thought it had plenty of potential and that was an unfortunate thread Morrison shouldn't have pursued. I mean, as though he didn't have enough chainsaws juggling in the air as it was, he has to throw in something so...cliched and ordinary? ":Stake this vampire!" I actually did laugh aloud at that. Especially given they were Green Lantern stakes, which would of course fade out.
Well DC has said this will have major ramafications. i'M guessing once the crossover is over where going to see Earth on the DCU really different. (IE JLC since america is probably gone).
more like the JL does not want to be held accountable to waller and the Society has america in its grip. so Canada is the closest they could get to as safe but strategic distance
Well, I doubt that they'll destroy the US because, well, most of the big important cities of the DCU are there. That said, I'm sure pretty much everything is going to be a mess after Forever Evil ends.
I was thinking more along the lines of a moon that's no longer in a moving orbit is going to simply crash down and kill everyone. :p Seriously, who's going to volunteer to keep it in place?
Hell, he liked the gig as Dr. Strangefate, so he's going back to alternate-universe moonlighting until someone at Marvel gives him his job back. Luthor can hardly be blamed from wanting to take a break when they give him all of two or three characteristics.
I wouldn't put it past Luthor to install photoreactive lenses into his eyes so that he can look at the sun without that happening, like a hightech version of contacts.
