In 2099...

Back in the present...

Liz Allan has become Horizon Lab's majority shareholder and is absorbing Horizon into Allan Chemicals. Tiberius Stone has become the new supervisor.

"Pete" decides to deal with Stone on his own.

Just checking...

Aha, this version of Doc Ock is still a thousand times worse a person than any version we've seen before and also appears to be a brainless thug.

Carry on...

I meant worse than any version of Doc Ock, who was at least noble and intellectual in his supervillainy, and not a pantomime villain/stereotypical haughty 1800s Aristocrat like this one. ("You shall rue this day"? "Bah"? When the hell did Otto use language like that?)

I don't know, the one from the Noir-verse was pretty heinous. He was a guy who grew up in German-colonial Africa who later moved to New York, then abducted African American people off the street and experimented on them in order to make them a better slave race, via drugs and brain surgery.

Guy was an Authority villain in the 1930s is what I'm saying.

At least he was outraged when his superiors started killing all of them, along with a Freudian excuse of being born paralyzed, which than leads at the end when going to Nazi-Germany Heinrich Himmler shunning him for his genetic impurity.

You know he mean's business when he says Rue. I always wondered in the future did the MC2/Legion kids always look back and say damn for the golden age of heroes you guys sure let alot go wrong.

Also if the timestream is broken why are these people traveling in time in the first place.

Because if Spider-Man kills Stone, Spider-Man 2099 will cease to exist.

Probably the other guy who wanted Pete's help, he mentioned 'back in time', and 'Pete' not helping probably causes time to screw up.

"Heroic" Age.

Also: Has no one really considered that maybe the man saying things like "you shall rue this day" or "who dares", is not who he claims to be?

considering the future of 2099 it's hard to feel sorry for this guy.

Hell, trying to claim credit for webbing because it was worked on there when it was invented well before his job started? bullshit.

I think I've figured it out.

Between Age of Ultron, Battle of the Atom, Infinity, the New Avengers Illuminati arc and now this Spider-Man 2099, everyone's going on about how "Time is Broken".

I'm calling it now; Starting in 2014, Octo-Spider will screw up big time and the whole city of New York, egged on by JJJ, will see him as the villain he is. He'll completely lose it and say something like, "I save this city and this is how you ingrates behave? Then I'll raze this city to the ground!" Meanwhile a Spider-Man clone, containing the mind of the real Peter Parker, will step forward for a final epic battle. After a battle that levels several city blocks, Peter Parker will stand triumphant, but so emotionally drained by his ordeal that he won't care anymore. He'll look at the unconscious body of his enemy, his own body, and chooses to abandon his ethics, deciding that after all he's been through, nothing really matters anymore. He raises his fists to deliver the killing blow--

Meanwhile the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men will be embroiled in a struggle to "fix time", maybe going up against Kang the Conqueror or Apocalypse, who wants to reorder time to suit their worldview or something. They will succeed in essentially rebooting the time-stream, just as Spider-man is about to kill Ock. A huge flash of white light engulfs the cosmos--

And Peter Parker is now a college freshman, caught in a love-triangle between brainy blond Gwen Stacy and party-girl redhead MJ Watson. Meanwhile, Dr. Donald Blake is about to discover a willow staff that will turn into the Hammer of Thor, the Avengers consist of Captain America and his Kooky Quartet, Danny Rand and Luke Cage have just started a new detective agency called Heroes for Hire and the X-Men consist of the All-New All Different line-up of Claremont's heyday, and are welcoming their newest member Kitty Pryde.

In other words, Marvel's Flashpoint. An entirely new Marvel Universe, all continuity tossed aside, loads of new titles and boatloads of angry fans.

In the name of Jack Kirby I'll bet I'm wrong. But what if I'm not?

In the vein of 'Facebook', I wish I could like this post. A thousand times over

If you were right...

You'd make a better writer and editor than most of what Marvel seems to be producing.

Currently, it seems like all Marvel "Creators", at least in the "writing" area....are permanently wearing a troll-face. Can't write one thing? Ignore it and do your own thing.

There is no more Canon or Continuity, even within writers and their own runs. "I hate this." "You started it." "Nope nope. Don't care. Hate it. CHANGING EVERYTHING." Fans: "This is crap. We want XYZ." "Creators: "Fine. XYZ Monkey Paw Style" Fans: "....... Blast It."

I'd almost be okay with a Marvel Flashpoint. Not like they can mess up 616 any worse than it already is.

Edited : I broke HTML. Go Me.

My initial reaction was that the Marvel universe is screwed up enough that a version of 2099 is the current confirmed future.

Then I got annoyed as a 2099 fan to see that this version of 2099 seems to be more advanced and actually able to look in on the Heoric age since one of the defining aspects of the original was that after the collapse of the heroic age most of the details were lost. (Plus like it or loathe it at the end Uatu's death in 2099 Manifest destiny stopping a second collapse was awesome.)

Then I found myself wishing for the old days when the Marvel Multiverse wasn't so DC like and time couldn't be so badly effed up and broken. Between the frankly boring epic going on over in the Avengers Titles, the time travel in x-men and now this I'm just sick of seeing Time is broke woe stuff going on in Marvel that reads like rejected concepts for one of DC's Reboot set ups.

Miguel O'Hara is one of my favorite characters and I almost considered pulling this arc in spite of Slott writing it. From this post I'm glad I didn't.

Well he's a little creepy, sure, but being a threat to SpOck isn't necessarily the same thing as being evil.
