I'm not normally that interested in variant covers, but these are rather cute, as they homage any  number of classic Marvel covers.

You can play as Stan Lee. Fuck GTA, Saints Row, all of them. This is game of the year!

Those LEGO variants are almost as good as Skottie Youngs baby variants.

I always love the lego games, in fact they're one of the few things that keep me playing video games. But they drop in price very quickly once they come out, so I usually wait a couple of months before purchasing them. It's gonna be really hard to do for this one.

Luckily I have Scribblenauts Unmasked

They are fun. How is Unmasked, by the way? I heard a claim somewhere of like 2000 DC characters, and I wanted to see how they did with that.

I did play a little at SDCC. I could summon Mogo an Glomulus and Larfleeze and Stephanie Brown. And I saw the library, they had at least twelve different versions of Martian Manhunter alone, including Bloodwynd, iirc.

Two things I was a little disappointed by: no Lego Batman (which I expected, but it's still disappointing) and when Larfleeze kills someone they don't come back as an Orange Lantern, but I let them know on the Facebook page and they might have fixed it by now.

Uh, you do acknowledge that for that last one they'd have to not only create the mechanics for it but also new models of every character in the game that you can beat? Probably not going to happen in a week, or at all.

Well, first of all it's been nearly two months dice I told them that, and the version of the game I was playing definitely wasn't final, as I found a graphical glitch while I was there.

Second of all, manipulation of traits is absolutely the Scribblenauts way. I can already make characters orange flying zombies in regular Scribblenauts, there is absolutely no reason to expect they couldn't set it up easily to do that automatically.

The character models would still have to be made, unless they'd just take the Transformer color-variant approach, and even that would require some personal touching. And if it's 2K characters... that's quite a bit of work for a quirk of one of them.

Do you know what Scribblenauts is? Every model, every character, every item can be made any color or texture you want. All you have to do is click on them, choose to add an adjective, and then type orange or green or rainbow or scaly or flying or greedy or generous or zombified or acrophobic or scary or anything you want, and the characters' or items' behavior or appearance to match. I routinely summon a friendly, rideable, rainbow, minute Cthulhu to ride around on.

And those all must have taken time for the graphical designers to make. Or are you trying to tell me the programmers invented a way to create art from nothing?

Modularity is built into the premise. They already have every character in orange in their catalogue already. Just like they're all already in green and yellow and rainbow and polka dotted and scaled. Maybe they've found some way to color a model orange easily that you're not aware of, or maybe they construct the entire model in orange already, but the fact remains that they have them in there from the very start because the ability to make an orange Batman is exactly what they're selling this game on.

No, I'm not really a fan of the whole lego thing (Tried some of the other games, didn't care for em.) But my nephews eat that stuff up.

Also impressed they included Arnim Zola and Mr. Hyde in the game (I think that was Hyde.)
