Hi, Longtime lurker here on Scans Daily but when I saw this I felt it was necessary to share the good news. But on the downside I don't see any other characters from Avengers Arena showing up, so the rest of the cast appears to still be on the chopping block.

Sadly/happily, I don't think X-23's survival was ever in doubt. It's most of the other characters who I'm worried about. There are a few too many who have already paid the price, and I'm scared about who we might lose before it's all over.

But that's okay, over in Infinity Hunt, they're already introducing more cannon fodder...

I want to like Infinity the Hunt, but Arena ruins it. I look at these new, rather unimpressive, kids and think:

"We lost Mettle for this?"
"We lost Chris Powell for this?"
"We lost Juston Seyfert and his Sentinel for this?"
"We got a bland repition of Joss Whedon's Nico Minoru arc used on Nico Minoru for this?"
"We got Joss Whedon's run utterly retconed out through sheer incompetence for this?"

This is not a surprise to anyone. It would be a surprise if Mettle was back in one of these reveal covers. That would be also far more interesting.

Happy that Laura's ok but also kinda resentful that being "Wolverine With Boobs" sort of gave her plot armor that her Avengers Academy teammates didn't have. (Same deal with the original cast of New X-Men during the Decimation character purge..)

Still she is the most individually popular, and that shields.

Hate the game, not the player. Avengers Arena is about the dumbest, most derivative idea to come down the pike in ages and as far as I'm concerned, the last issue of the Academy is the end of their story and this is all one extended holodeck malfunction.

This might be a crazy guess . . . but is she kissing Kurt? The fingers seem rather large and the little tuft of hair on the guy's head seems like Kurt's hair.

Nah my money is on teen cyclops. I think it would create the most drama and the most laughs given how wolverine will probably react.

The concept of Laura kissing /anyone/ is kind of un-Laura-ish, unless I've missed massive amounts of character development since the time she told Hellion to go pester someone else...

I think Laura got some fashion tips from Miss Frost, at least if what I'm seeing on her costume is in fact a ridiculously low neckline and not just some play of light or costume coloring...

Am I so sick of comics and twists that I am not looking forward to this? I mean, when has ANY teenage, or adult, superhero relationship has EVER taken a right turn without going slamming into a wall or just end up apart because the writers have nothing else to throw at them at the time...

Hm, I was about to cite a comic (Fred Perry's Gold Digger), but then I realized that while it has some superheroes, and it has multiple successful relationships, the only married superhero in it did so before becoming a super.

Much like I wish someone would burn Greg Land's porn references, I wish someone would take away Peterson's copy of Poser 5, or whatever program he uses to render his models. Stiff as hell.

What a shock, the character who's appeared in multiple cartoons and videogames and is derivative of one of Marvel's most marketable characters will survive the cheap teen hero culling for 'shock value'. Mind you, they introduced Artemis in 'The Culling' just to kill her off, so Marvel's got one over DC there.

I'm a big Laura fan, mind you, but it pisses me off that we've lost so many other good characters along the way.

Also, who gave her to Bendis? Wood's X-Men series is RIGHT THERE!

Also, I'm still mad that Liu never got to use Laura in Astonishing.

I know, right? Especially since she and Jubilee have their sismance going on and everything...

I...wouldn't have pegged Laura for the one-foot-in-the-air, princess kiss sort of person. It's a very strange thing to see.

The shadowed figure is probably teen!Cyclops, but I'll put a bet on it being teen!Beast. It's the big hand that's making me think that.

I almost hope it's teen Cyclops for the purpose of one day, a character looks at the couple, then looks at Cyclops and Wolverine before saying, "Well that explains a lot."

You're not alone, but sadly I think it unlikely given that Hellion barely seems to exist anymore. Then again, maybe that's for the best, given that they would probably find more new ways to put the kid that was clearly and obviously suffering from a massive case of PTSD and the adults responsible for him (given that his parents had disowned him) collectively seemed to believe the best way to deal with it was to continually tell him "You're an X-Man, suck it up and move on."

Which, y'know, is pretty much the worst advice you can give someone that has PTSD, but I admit that's a bit of a trigger for me.

In any case, "Myster Man" is almost certainly either one of the new characters or one of the time-displaced X-Men. But man do I love the idea of it being Teen-Cyclops. Because OMG the hilarity.

Hey, maybe it's Elixir. There were some very vague hints dropped between them in X-force once upon a time, it'd be nice to see him come back (I'm not aware of him being in anything since Necrosha).
