Well looks like I'm back to dropping (616) Spider-Man. So long Spock, it was fun.

On one level I enjoyed SpOck, his personality made for great interactions with other heroes, and I really enjoyed the change in pacing and storytelling. On another level, the way it reduced everyone in the MU to idiotic levels was horrible, and the fact that not one person, from Captain America to May to Mary Jane especially, thought something might actually be wrong, in a world where mind control and body switching isn't exactly uncommon, really infuriated me.

I guess there was just so much wasted potential, just spoiled by terrible handling of the characters around SpOck.

I get the feeling that while Peter might be coming back, Ock will still be around in some capacity in this new role. Maybe Superior gets renamed "The Superior Doctor Octopus?"

If nothing else, there's the potential " Wait, none of you even realized..? Aw, screw you all! " reaction from a returned Peter.

If the Amazing title had a different author then I would be flabbergasted if they didn't write in a scene like that. However, we still have Dan Slott on writing, which leads me to believe that there won't even be a throwaway line justifying the collective idiocy of Parker's expanded network of family, friends, and acquaintances.

And they'll probably have Peter being a complete failure compared to Ock anyway. I'm not reading anything to do with Amazing, as long as Dan Slott has anything to do with the title.

Assuming it's not some silly little Marvel Now! Past Story trick or some such.

Thank God and About Time.

Welcome back, Peter! It's been tough 'round the homestead these past few months. You've got some work cut out for ya.

I wonder if Osborn's gonna have a hand in Peter coming back. He's the Green Goblin and all, but he's still a scientist.

What if Peter does come back and Ock is still in his head as some faint voice?

Fun for some, I guess. Not that I have any faith in Slott delivering anything that I'd want to read anymore--even the best appearances of SpOck were written by other people--and holy jeebers is that a creepy face by Ramos.

On one hand yay Peter is back. On the other Slott is still writing it and after the train wreck that was superior I have no faith what so ever in his writing.

Out of curiosity how long has Slott been writing Spider-Man? It feels like a couple years but I might be overestimating.

Glad to see Pete back. I never hated SpOck. Rather liked Superior Spider-Man. The fail marks come in the execution in how it started and even other events (confrontation with Pete in his mind, characters taking stupid pills). Otherwise, there were genuine things that was fun about the series and I like that Ock put his genius to use, even in controversial ways...

Yes, I can finally read Amazing Spider-Man again. Now all we need is for Peter to get back with Mary Jane, and I will be an extremely happy camper.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Slott as a writer, I know he can do better than this but it's time to give some one else a try. I doubt there lack of interest or that his run is selling that well. I mean it's not bad but aside from anniversary issues I can't find an issue selling above 70 000. And given how many of his stories are promoted multiple characters involving crossovers that is saying something. I know Superior is selling well but that series would sell anyway for obvious reasons. Wouldn't bringing in an another well known writer for this first issue make more people interested?

I'm pleased to see Peter Parker back, but disappointed that Slott's still writing it, seems like this would be the perfect time for a creative hand off, really. I mean, maybe if Slott was planning on wrapping his run soon, and this was just him wanting to do one or two final story arcs to put a bow on everything, but there's really no indication that that's the case.

I wonder if this piece is intended to be indicative of the tone to come once Peter's back. It could just be bright and fluffy as a result of being the big "Peter Parker is back!" announcement piece, but I think we're all expecting the post Spider-Ock era to be a reinstatement of the underdog status quo. Also, personally I'm hoping to see Peter be more than a little upset that no one realized what was happening earlier.

Peter! Peter! Peter!
So good to see you, old friend.

Who knows - they might go back to rotating teams.
In any way, I do agree that Slott needs to move on to different projects and stories, since I can't really see him being able to bring anything new to the table after... well, everything he already did with Peter to begin with, and then with Otto.

Wish someone else was writing, but yay! My Spider-Boycott can end!

Plus, Nightcrawler's coming back now too.
And both Clint and Kitty are alive and their awesome selves too.

Now, I really hope they're not killing off Mockingbird in Secret Avengers like they're teasing, because then by April I'll have all my top-five Marvel characters alive and well.
