ecomic publisher Lion Forge has signed a deal with NBC/Universal to turn some of it's old TV properties into comics. They already publish some comics for Knight Rider and Airwolf, and now they are expanding the line with two more properties...

Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster?

More power to them if they can make this work, but thirty year old sitcoms for kids don't strike me as being a winning business pan.

Saved by the Bell is only 25 years old... though typing that makes me feel very old.

Given the average age of a comic buyer these days, seeing those on the shelf might make sense... it doesn't necessarily make good comics (and not necessarily BAD either) but make sense.

Of course, I wonder if Zach will be the hero or be shown to be the creepy uber-jerk that he really was looking back?

I'm more curious as to whether Jessie will disappear and then return after embarrassing hi-jinks with Paul Verhoeven and a certain grotesquely hilarious film.

That whole thing is doubly hilarious in light of the Screech actor's tell-all book talking about how the Zach actor was a fan of Paul Verhoeven films and got the rest of the cast really into them, too.

The weird thing is that Showgirls is arguably the big flub in Verhoeven's catalogue of films. Otherwise - the gratuitousness of Basic Instinct aside - I don't think Verhoeven makes particularly bad films. Even Starship Troopers is a great subversion of/response to the book.

But that is hilarious. I mean, obviously, Elizabeth Berkley couldn't imagine that working with Verhoeven would lead to that, but.. Still.

I had the biggest crush on A.C Slater. When I saw the reruns of the show in the early 2000's

But it's going to be weird to see them in present day adventures using modern technology and such.

Also it would be great if Zack middle school long lost friends Mikey Gonzalez and Nikki Coleman, plus Tori Scott could make cameo appearances in the comic.

Based on comments I've read on other sites, Zack was, for quite a few years, the "gateway gay crush" for guy coming to terms with the fact that they were attracted to other guys. He's certainly pretty looking.

I never watched this in the 80's, so all this is to me Nomi from Showgirls and that guy who did a Dirty Sanchez on a sextape.

We had reruns of SBTB in the UK on Channel 4 at the weekend/early weekday mornings, so it was utterly bizarre to watch Showgirls when I was older and... Yeah. I always wondered, when I was about eight or ten or so, why my parents were snickering at posters of Showgirls during a holiday in Italy

Seeing the blonde guy with that outfit, I thought it was some sort of Johnny Test comic. He looks like he could be a teenage Johnny Test.
