I'm in the same boat. The concept is awesome, and the writing is amazing! I especially love the part where Luke and Jessica ignore SpOck's villainous monologue so they can get a babysitter for their kid. Responsible parents, those two are.

I think it makes this entire scene twice as funny if (like me) you imagine that SpOck came here immediately after the temper tantrum he had in his own series where he threw himself out of the window of Avenger Tower screaming "I QUIT!" at the top of his lungs. Sure, his last comment here kind of throws that theory out the window, but you could argue that he's lying to save face after being absolutely humiliated twice in one day.

The first time I saw that second scan's scene, I thought it was SpOck getting simultaneously punched by Jessica and Luke.

I still kind of wish it actually was, even though that'd probably end this confrontation very quickly.

Could we just have a whole series of people beating up SS-Man? Like, he pisses off a different superhero each issue, and they proceed to beat him really, really badly and he has to run off to save face. I'd love to see it, I'd love it a lot.

So all these people who know Spidey is Peter Parker and actually roomed with the guy back in the Dark Avengers era still believe that this is their friend snarky Peter talking and acting like this. Especially for old pros at this sort thing like Luke (would he really take Stark's word on it that nothing's wrong with Peter?)

I dunno. It reminds me of the several times Simone had Batman appear in BoP and act like a jerk all so Black Canary/Oracle/Huntress could tell him off. It's supposed to be some big triumphant thing but comes off the exact opposite (especially the BoP post Identity Crisis issue where BC is telling off Bats and tells him - the guy she voted to mind-wipe and lied about it for years - that if he doesn't treat Huntress right he'll lose her respect).

To make Superior Spider-Man work especially when SSP is acting like he does in the above scans you have to have Luke, Jessica (who went to school with Peter) and She-Hulk all whom know the Peter personally carry the idiot ball. So the ending doesn't really make them look badass as the writer wants too.

I just hope there is some old school Carol Danvers telling off the Avengers stuff when Peter does return.

Except Batman being a dick, especially to Huntress, isn't out of character. It's not like he was a super nice guy in the other titles, and he was only a dick when Simone was writing him.

Not sure. This book has a more inconstant line-up than most, with members constantly coming and going.
